AV Safety and Security

Yesterday’s Information Meeting of Auroville Safety & Security Team at SAWCHU, Bharat Nivas, Pavilion of India was not well attended from the side of community.
Current AV Safety&Security Team , consisting of Samuel, Indra, Srijita, Mattheiu, Peter, Carlos, and the guards, which took its place about year and a half ago, shared intensively with us what are they going through, changes they have implemented in their work, obstacles, scope of work, and future plans. In all they also emphasized the importance of prevention rather than intervention. In this aspect collaboration with the community is of utmost importance. They would like to have wider interaction with the members of the community from sharing of information to the appropriate attitude of each of the member of the community. Just for an example – in past year 90% of thefts occurred due to the fact that people leaved the doors unlocked!

Who was it roused them and bade them to blow?

Water Group informs us that in an effort to conserve our dwindling water resources in the City Centre, has asked Auroville Water Service to stop filling tankers from the City Centre. Water should be sourced from more abundant areas in Auroville, however, drinking water absolutely takes priority. The next step in water conservation is to ask all construction sites to supply their water via tankers (again filled outside of the City Centre).

Absence of love and fellow-feeling is not necessary for nearness to the Divine; on the contrary , a sense of closeness and oneness with others is apart of the divine consciousness into which the sadhak enters by nearness to the Divine and the feeling of oneness with the Divine. …In this yoga the feeling of unity with others, love, universal joy and Ananda are an essential part of the liberation and perfection which are the aim of the sadhana.

When you awake, you cross a line of no return, and you never see the world in the same way. You are still dreaming—because you cannot avoid dreaming, because dreaming is the function of the mind–but the difference is that you know it’s a dream.

To Heal Skin Problems

Sarah arrived in Auroville as one of many Weltwaerts volunteers from Germany, and has decided to work with plants, since that is her passion, and maybe her future line of work with environmental science. Most of time here she spent at Botanical Garden continuing with the work of a garden someone started last year., and as she mentions, some one will continue after her …

Sarah compiled booklet, which supposed to be the first one in the series, on Local Medicinal Plants in Tamil Nadu. That one is focused on healing skin problems with local plants.
So many possibilities, and freedom to chose , would be high on the list of things Sarah like about Auroville, followed by her good relationship with Makachi, a Tamil woman with an enormous knowledge on plants and their uses, who generously shared her knowledge with Sarah…..

The integral Yoga is so called because it aims at a harmonised totality of spiritual realisation and experience. Its aim is integral experience of the Divine Reality, what the Gita describes in the words samagram mam, “the whole Me” of the Divine Being. Its method is an integral opening of the whole consciousness, mind, heart, life, will, body to that Reality, to the Divine Existence, Consciousness, Beatitude, to its being and its integral transformation of the whole nature.

To be sincere, all the parts of the being must be united in their aspiration for the Divine – not that one part wants and others refuse or revolt. To be sincere in the aspiration – to want the Divine for the Divine’s sake, not for fame or name or prestige or power or any satisfaction of vanity.

10th Auroville Marathon for Land

10th edition of Auroville Marathon – Run for the Joy of Runnig was about to end. Crowded with happy, yet tired faces of runners, loudspeakers heard from far announcing the arriving runners….
In between we caught Ananad, one of the core organizers who shared with us some facts and figures – this year was around 400 to 500 more runners than previous year, 3150 registered, and 2800 bibs were picked up; from Auroville 52, and from bioregion 250 runners participated; apart from 20 members of core organizing team also 500 people volunteer for different tasks needed to be look up if marathon should be successful. As Annand mentioned since 3rd Auroville Marathon 5000 to 6000 breakfasts are prepared every year for that occasion .
Design – logo for the T-shirt this year was designed by an Auroville student, and T-shirts are in white, and blue, with the Mother symbol, representing different tasks of volunteers for the marathon.
Out of almost a quarter of Auroville population who volunteered Kalsang shared some impressions, emphasizing that is always a privilege to volunteer at the occasion. Kalsang this year had a group of boys from TCV school who are currently in Auroville as exchange students, and they also shared some impressions.
On the way out, toward Visitor’s Centre three participants share their thoughts on Auroville Marathon, mostly stating that is fresh, and well maintained marathon.

Novelty to this year marathon is the point, that it falls in the month of raising funds to purchase land, which still does not belong to Auroville.
