AV Safety and Security

Yesterday's Information Meeting of Auroville Safety & Security Team at SAWCHU, Bharat Nivas, Pavilion of India was not well attended from the side of community.
Current AV Safety&Security Team , consisting of Samuel, Indra, Srijita, Mattheiu, Peter, Carlos, and the guards, which took its place about year and a half ago, shared intensively with us what are they going through, changes they have implemented in their work, obstacles, scope of work, and future plans. In all they also emphasized the importance of prevention rather than intervention. In this aspect collaboration with the community is of utmost importance. They would like to have wider interaction with the members of the community from sharing of information to the appropriate attitude of each of the member of the community. Just for an example - in past year 90% of thefts occurred due to the fact that people leaved the doors unlocked!

Open House Sunship

On Saturday, September 30th we were invited for an open house in Sunship. Sunship started as a next step of the Citadines experiment which pioneered an urban collective housing project with a difference.
Originally the aspiration was to do the entire building with contributions from well-wishers . Due to practical reasons, out of the 39 apartments, 20 are to give on a pro bono basis and balance the rest with financial contribution. Sunship is an experiment in a new living, offering compact personal spaces and yet be part of a harmonious collective life. There are also common areas, such as double height terraces, the dining room, laundry and maintenance are taking care for. .. and of course Sunship integrates waste management, waste water treatment, rain water harvesting, solar energy and so on...
In the morning there was a short meditation while we listened to a talk from the mother while playing her organ, followed by a talk of Anu and Louis Cohen. Afterwards we could visit some of the apartments and have a cup of tea. In the afternoon there was an exctract from the show BHU/EARTH directed by Philippe and Thierry.

IYD – Peace and Prosperity

In short interview Kavitha, an active member of Youth Link, invites us to celebrate International Yourh Day on Saturday 12th of August together. The team has decided to add Prosperit to official UN focus of this year - Peace. Thea are looking forward to explore as collective the qualities of peace and prosperity from 4pm onward at Mahalakshmi Park, where various workshops, and games will encourage all of us to do so. Youth Link has invited new members of Governing Board, which will be visiting and interacting with Auroville this weekend, to come.

50th – Who, What, Where, When

By 50th Auroville Anniversary Core Team (Fabienne, Chali, David, Fred, along with Milan, Pala, Claudine) the community was invited to a workshop about preparations for Auroville’s 50th anniversary...
The workshop (interactive session) was aiming to inform the community on where we are today and to explore the next steps ... or what we can do together.
Team leaded us through where we are at this moment with the preparations according to various possibilities - depending to either grant from Governemnt of India will be given or not.
50 years of existence of intentional community is a remarkable mark. Some members would prefer to celebrate it quietly, yet is pretty obvious that it will have quite an impact on life of the community, and surely cannot be ignored.
In second part of the event all were invited to explored possibilities how , and where one could actively participate.
Two years ago WC offered a theme for anniversary - Centering within , and during intensive participatory planning exercises theme evolved in vision:
to re-inspire our individual, collective aspiration in order to achieving of Auroville Charter and A Dream.
