(Photographer: Giorgo)"It takes too much time to build houses compared to the need", here is the concrete starting statement Bridget assessed to explain the reason why of the Dis-mountable Housing Project to the sixty persons who came to attend the meeting on Friday April 15th, 2011 at the Town Hall Conference Room. It includes individual housing with common shared infrastructures such as the kitchen, bathrooms/WCs, laundry, etc. Residents are to prepaid a monthly rental towards infrastructure which would be fully advanced by Auroville. According to the team, the capital will roll over the residents' next housing arrangement minus the depreciation rate. Several Architects came to present their prototype such as Johnny from Fertile who presented a 12sq house made of wood and galvanized iron pipes, off grounded on concrete pillars and plates; or Eric who introduced the very modular Auzolan construction system; or again, Rolf/Balu and their Bamboo Design House. As of today the project promoters are giving the public the opportunity to share their point of view and participate to the project - all options are open for discussion. Interested users are invited to a group site-visit, a one-day workshop to fine-tune the layout of the living unit, or a group design sessions. The power Point Presentation projected at the meeting is down-loadable here (as PDF document).
