On Sunday afternoon at CRIPA in Kalabhumi the atmosphere was filled with joyful noises of excited children, parents and friends. The Youth Choir led by Nuria and accompanied on piano by Matthew has shared with the community some popular songs chosen from some well known movies for children. The young audience was captivated and spellbound by the sound-track Cirlce of Life from the movie Lion King performed by the twenty-one members of the choir.

Last Sunday was a sporty day for Aurovillians! The first Auroville Athletics Meet took place at Dehashakti Sports Complex, next to Dana. Around 50 people registered, mainly teenagers of the school and their sport teacher. From 8 in the morning, they practised 100 m race, 800 m race and long jump before a good breakfast. At 5 pm, a fun race was organized with the feet linked together. Despite of the lack of participants, Rajeev, one of the coordinator, was satisfied of the enthusiam of youngers. He hopes that more adults will join next time.

Then comes a really short interview of Tamar, a teacher at ''Teaching Learning Community'', talks about what she thinks of Auroville life and education. Finally, a little talk with Otto, here since more than two decades gives his thoughts on, again, the education of Auroville's children.

What can children do in the holidays? We talked with some of them at the Kindergarten...children attending the summer program. These programs are for children to enjoy during summer holidays, and maybe make some new friends. Teachers and volunteers offer programs especially enjoyable for small children; they can develop their own skills like swimming, learning different languages, singing, dancing, playing. Teachers are pleased to help the children, and keep them happy. At the same time they also learn a lot from the children, and grow with it.

Gray Whales and Blue Whales of Transition School prepared for the Open House not only the display of some work they have done through the year but also some songs you can hear on this recording. Open Houses at the end of the school year are always interesting for the parents, and friends. One part is to see some projects children prepared with great care, some art work, with classrooms tidy and nicely decorated. Come share the contagious excitement of children who are proud of their workand their school.

Children of Deepanam School prepared, as usual for the end of the year small cultural program to share with their parents, friends and community. Opening piece was by Keshava on tabla, accompanied by Nadaka on guitar, followed by bharatnatyam classical Indian dance of older and a bit younger children of the school. Songs were sung, this year, except the last one, all in Tamil. And that was also the language of two plays, one of an old fable, the other original piece by students, leaving us roaring with laughter; and third one in French.

Last Saturday in SAWCHU in Bharat Nivas, the international children's theatre workshop on Tagore literature took place. Mainly given in Tamil, its purpose was to let the children from the villages around Auroville share knowledge, work together and feel as one. And not just the children, but the teachers and some experts in theatre and education as well. The day, facilitated by Dr. Velu Saravanan, consisted of reciting poems and songs, theatre classes and as finale, a small play performed by the children. Read more

Part two of our documentary where we explore the possibilities of introducing Laughter Yoga in schools as part of the daily routine. Certified Laughter Yoga Teachers and Leaders from Canada, Fif & Hamish, have used laughter as a therapy for children. But now, they are doing an experiment of doing Laughter Yoga with about 60 children every day for 4 days at Deepanam School. Would the kids like it?
