Tuesday 17th January at Unity Pavilion CAT 07 – it was about Auroville city plan with Anupama, Piero, Helmut, Toine, Judith Mandakini, Giacomo. The event was moderated by Anu and followed Q & A session. Anupama was showing his city plan to the community as it was done by Roger Anger. After it was the time for questions about new plan and what Auroville need for many peoples who will come to visit the city.
Auroville Integral Sustainability Institute invited, like last year, 8 post graduate planning students with their Professor from Queen's School of Urban & Regional Planning Canada. They presented their work on AV sustainability indicators yesterday night in MMC. They started some background preparation work in Canada itself and arrived in Auroville 2 Weeks ago for field visit and familiarization with Auroville context.They interacted with many resource persons to get an insight into diverse aspects of community life, issues and challenges.
Last Saturday, on December 14th, Doctor Christoph Woiwode was invited by the Centre for International Research on Human Unity (CIRHU) and the German Pavilion, both in Auroville, to give a presentation. The talk was given in the SAIIER Conference room, Town Hall, and was preceded by the gifting of the Trialog Journal (June 2012) on Urban Development and Spirituality to Auroville architects. Dr. Woiwode is a German research scholar from the visiting Faculty at the Indo-German Centre for Sustainability, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.
Auroville value-based Town Planning and Development Workshop took place on 30th of April and 1st of May, from, 8:30 am to 5 pm
The workshop marks the 1st phase and is meant to build up energy, align our vision and values and prepare the ground for a further participatory process which includes the whole community. Auroville is conceived as an urban experiment that would address the work of the evolution of consciousness: a spiritual way of life while dealing with challenges posed by the economic, sociological and cultural factors of the region. 1. To generate a shared vision for planning as a true base for collaboration and initiating a participatory process for emerging from values into action
2. To find agreement around key issues with regard to Town Planning and Development in Auroville and how we can work together with integral vision and inclusiveness towards their realization.
3. To identify levels and stages of participation to put in place a process of a larger community participation in order to encourage and gather community input to Auroville planning.
4. By November, create a strong, vibrant and collaborative lAvenir dAuroville with an integral approach which takes into account all the facets of Aurovilles ideals and development, working together, transcending opinions and positions.
