She's has a youthful air about her, a dynamic and sincere personality, and is quick to add laughter to the conversation. Since working with the GEN she has signed Auroville up as a member, a controversial move within the community, but she felt the need to be a part of such an inspiring organization, even though she views Auroville not as an ecovillage but as an ecotown.
In this interview we speak with Marti, an Aurovillian who shares her views on what makes a community work. She speaks about climate change and the drastic challenges we're to face; and, how Auroville as a community is in a unique and inspiring position to help create solutions to some of the most pressing world problems. She offers insightful commentary on the complexity and beauty of living in a sustainable community. Her life experience with community has prepared her for the international political realm, where she works with the United Nations, UNESCO, and the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) as a voice for sustainable communities.
