Last night at Pitanga Jean-Christophe on flute and Teresa on tampura has offered to a numerous audience a meditation, where music supposed to be used as a medium to get into meditative state. Since this was not a concert, and its purpose was not to entertain, Jean-Christophe has chosen an Indian raga - Malcance, and invited the audience to travel on the sound of the flute with him.

The Scratch Bandits Crew is an unique band, where scratch music turns turnatables into instruments to create its own music. In interview with members of the band and team Supa-Jay, Syr, Geoffresh, and Remy we hear what is music to them, and why they've decided to create on that way. Within Bon Jour India events they were touring last few weeks all over India, amazed over kindness and openness of Indian audience, for which are very much grateful. Band, existing a bit over 10 years, with each member uniqueness is one of few in the world.

Bharat Nivas, the Pavilion of India, holded the homage to Thyagaraja. It started two years back with the beginning of Telugu Samskriti Kendramu. This year the homage started in the morning with a procession with chantings from the gate of Unity Pavilion. At SAWCHU started the traditional musical homage of Thyagaraja kritis by the Auroville students, teachers and professional musicians. Songs of other composers where also offered in the spirit of devotion of the event. Shri N. Bala Baskar, Secretary, Auroville Foundation was the chief guest.

Even thought Krishna was the organizer of the LUYE 2013 festival he still had time to play in the band. Emergence is an Indo-acoustic pop band playing harmonic textures of guitar and powerful lyrics blend with melodies played on violin. This, backed by the expressive grooves of rock, funk and ethnic rhythms and an explosive style of fretless and six-string bass is the unique fusion that is Emergence. The band has released albums "Here I Am" and "Chosen By God".

Yemadas a band that needs no introduction here in Auroville. Yemadas is a ethnic fusion band who plays their original songs inspired in Africa and Brazil traditional songs. Mixed with different instruments and beautiful and philosophical lyrics takes people in a deep journey to our roots, looking for a strong connection with our hearts. Healing trough music is one of the aspects of Yemadas performances. The interaction with the audience and everybody singing and dancing along is another aspect of their performances.

From Germany to L.A to India Ed DeGenaro, brings with him a unique take on music which has been collectively called the Nude Guitar Sound. This radical sound comprises of bebop, metal and Indian sounds. Ed has collaborated with international musicians like Elliott Sharp, Steve Kimmock and the David Byron Band as well as Indian artists like Ghatam Karthik and Ujjayinee Roy. His ensemble features himself on Guitar, Ujjayinee Roy on Vocals, Shyam Rao on Drums, Wayne Fernandez on Bass and Anthony Karuna on Keyboards.

Following is the recording of session with Russian Singing Bells on African Land in International Zone - the land appointed for the Africa House / Pavilion of African Culture. After short introduction of bells by Vera and Ashesh to the participants, the whole session, which purpose was meditation for peace and unity, has developed and grown into its own special harmonious melody. It was still hot in the afternoon at Solitude Farm. The sound engineers and volunteer team were working hard on tuning all the gear on the stage to provide the best sound possible. Anna Taj with the band has hit the stage with some powerful rock tunes, and shaken the audience out of mellow mood of previous acoustic experience. Anna and band have managed, despite some technical difficulties (and which bigger event hasn't got them?), to share with the community also some new songs, just recently published on the new CD.

Sweet warm January's day, Solitude farm with Lively Up Your Earth 2013 eco music festival crowd, just around noon when Suryan started with the musical part of the festival. His acoustic soulful solo slowly warmed up the gathering audience. For few last songs Danny, talented youngster has joined him on the stage.
This year LUYE was far the best organized, with numerous participants, lots of stalls focus on ecology, recycling and renewable energy, huge crew of volunteers which has started with preparations months before the day.

Last night event organized by Africa House and Windarra Farm at Unity Pavilion in International Zone was initiated by Isis, volunteer from Benin, currently working with several NGO's, on Agro Ecological Federation of Benin, at Family Jah - Rastafari Community. As Isis has soon found out that in Auroville the presence of African Culture is very poor, she shared with the community pieces of African culture from West Africa. A beautiful Thursday afternoon could be spent at UDAVI school at the Football grounds watching the pupils perform dances and other physical movements included elements of Yoga asanas. All three sections - kindergarten, new building and main section - were represented and each one had their own teachers who have been practicing with them for at least 3 months. The children presented highly motivated as well as joyful and enthused the group by their spirits. Each year UDAVI school has a demonstration.

Even if it is to celebrate a New Moon, the fact is, that is always good, and needed to conect with the community at the social event, and last night has well proved it. Excellent voices of Priscila, Jeremy, and Suryan, who are all beside singers also the songwriters, have brought feeling of joy, high spirits of thoughts going beyond just visible, and yet the sense of togetherness with all present. Either their own songs, either resung the known numbers, all were well accepted, and didn't take too long to join them with singing and dancing.

Sungpil Yang was born in Daegu, South Korea. Since he was very young he had a deep affinity with Korean traditional music. His interest lead him to study music seriously for Daegeum Korean Bamboo flute. He holds a Masters degree with a major in Music Education from Youngnam University, Doctoral degree with a major in Musicology from Keimyung University in Daegu, Korea. He completed the performers course of an important intangible cultural asset no. 45. He has performed solo recitals ten times and released four solo albums.

The Sri Aurobindo Integral Center of Education organized a concert in the Harmony hall with Christa Eschmann at flute, Richard Hartz on piano. They played Johann Sebastian Bach, Christoph Willibald Gluck, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Shubert, Karl Kreith, and Willem Popp .Christa Eschmann studied flute at the music schools in Hanover and Bremen, with the completion of the teaching diploma and artistic maturity. She attended master classes with Peter Lukas Graf and William Bennett and dealt with early music.

Kalapini Komkali is an Indian Classical vocalist of the younger generation with wholly original music which is melodious and extremely rich. She is daughter and student of the legendary vocalist late Kumar Gandharva. At Pitanga last night she was accompanied by Shri Sanjay Deshpande, a leading table player form Pune, India. He has been trained under two great table Maestros Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar and Ustad Alla Rakha Khan saheb. On harmonium was Lakshmi Santra.
