Shyama`s Interview Part 2

On December 5th, Francois and Rakhal projected the 2nd part of Shyama's (Certitude) interview. This is an extremely moving movie as Shyama recounts the very beginnings of Auroville, her unique relationship with the Mother, the death of the first Auroson and the birth of the second one, as well as her insights into Auroville today. Shyama had seven children and her life, courage and strength are an inspiration to all. The 5th of December is Sri Aurobindo's Mahasamadhi and it is a fitting day as Shyama, the name given by the Mother, is one of Krishna's names. Read more

Bridging the Polarities: Ecology
How can we overcome inherited anthropocentrism in our relationship with nature as we develop "the city the earth needs"? This week's meeting with B and Luigi brought Rishi into the studio. Rishi, from the Youth Center, shared with us his concerns about the direction in which Auroville is heading and its relationship with the natural area which has grown over the past 40 years. We resolved the discussion acknowledging the climate of understanding which we had birthed and setting intention for dialogue to continue on this and other topics. Read more

Stella
Since studying media choice for Auroville Radio was a logical option for Stella who wanted to spend and volunteer some more time in Auroville. She finds AV radio different mostly because is not searching exclusively for bad news, which would be the practice everywhere else, but still wishes that it would be more focused of Auroville values, reflect a state of the town with it's truth. Whole team admire Stella for her honesty, sense for a team work, and for her excellent photographic portraits she have taken over her volunteership.

Matrimandir Exhibition Now Open
On February 28th, 2011, the work began for a new Matrimandir exhibit at the Visitor's Center. One year later, on the 44th birthday of Auroville's beginning, the exhibit opened at 9:30 a.m. following a concentration and consecration of the space. The exhibit, which was partially created with earth from the Matrimandir Gardens, was envisioned to be more a more spatial, visceral, and visual venue than the old exhibit. The creation was a smooth and quiet process, and was realized just in time for the one year deadline. Read more

Closer to God
Stories about repatriation of Black and Rasta people might sound similar yet each of them is a story in itself. However, from the spiritual aspect, though not visible at first , a common thread runs through all life's faiths. The overwhelming experiences of first visits are similar. For Kathy and Winston it was closely connected by them being active members of Twelve Tribes, one of the largest Rasta organizations, and after first two months visit they decided to come "home" . They're talking honestly about their life, blessings, problems.. Read more
