Background: True unity presupposes that nothing from the whole is missing and therefore implies a culture of synthesis, a capacity to harmonise contraries which has not been sufficiently cultivated in Auroville. Yet, synthesis is the very core of Sri Aurobindo's action as well as the constant invitation of the Mother to Aurovilians to learn and practice what Auroville must be. But we are not yet free from the habit of splitting, judging and imposing our own partial views in the name of truth. The actual capacity of synthesis has not been developed and the raison d'etre of our collective life is therefore still missing. That is why some of us have decided to meet regularly to explore and learn what happens when we choose synthesis as our only possible law and method. From within that perspective we will look at Auroville's issues.
Process: We do not want to debate issues. We want to examine what the synthesis of divergent points of view is. That is, what is the truth which is inclusive? The issues at hand are an occasion for us to learn, to progress, to become more and more capable of synthesis. All are welcome! Guests, please excuse us.
