A Heart Opened to the Divine
Tyler Carson, a volunteer at Village Action Group, has came to Auroville in the group of twelve as their part of intership of the study on integrative energy healing. Their study in Seattle is a three years program design to incorporate teachings from India(Vedic system), China(meridian system) and North American Native tradition in order for students to know how to use the universal energy in order to promote healing in the body. Tyler is working on sound healing by allowing his heart to be open to the Divine while making the music. Read more

In Friday morning session of Steps Ahead .. presented by Sri Aurobindo Centre for Studies.. Indian and the World (Bharat Nivas) in collaboration of other Working Groups Kailash Clinic and Auroville Institute for Integral Health presented their reality of different ways of how to deal with diseases and ill condition of human body and spirit. Aravind`s Eye Care Awareness
On 15th February 2013 Auroville hosted the Eye Care Awareness Symposium, in Town Hall. The symposium was conducted by the Aravind Eye Hospital, Pondicherry, as a part of 10th anniversary celebrations. Tree specialists (Dr. Venkatesh, Dr. Prathmesh and Dr. Manavi) spoke about: Advances in Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Diabetic Retinopathy and ARMD and Silent Killer of Vision – Glaucoma. Thousands of Smiles

A truly inspiring Sunday morning! More than 3000 people gathered at dawn at the Visitor Centre to participate to the 6th Auroville's marathon to run over the path and paved roads of Auroville. The most common word I've heard it's "awesome"... Believe me this interviews are barely edited and what it comes out is that the runners were just so happy! 3000 runners at the 6th Marathon

Auroville Marathon 2013 - Run for the joy of Running. The sixth edition of the Auroville Marathon will be held on February 10, 2013. This year, we'll have over 3000 participants from Auroville, the neighboring villages, Sri Aurobindo Ashram and from other cities in India as well as outside India. Ultimate Hat Tournament

Auroville hosted the third annual India "Hat" tournament during the first three days in February. Sports fields where used across the whole of Auroville with the finals held at Certitude on Sunday afternoon. Big thanks to Mark who as organized this third annual tournament in Auroville. Ultimate Frisbee uses similar rules as Basketball to pass the disk between players and have a score zone at both ends of the field similar as American football. Most unique is that there is no referee and the players call themselves faults being made. Read more

Meditation against Violence
Given the recent news attention to the rape case in New Delhi and other cases of violence against woman across India. Anandi and Noel organized a special meditation session for Aurovillian's to radiate love and kindness to protect and support all woman in India and across the world. Anandi also displayed two very old wooden Goddess statues. One includes a Rain Goddess from Africa. The meditation was opened by Noel and lasted for fortyfive minutes. Flushing the Cure Down the Toilet

Jim is a proponent and informal researcher of Auto-Urine Therapy, an ancient Indian healing practice. Triathlon a Running Success!
The Auroville triathlon, held last Sunday Sept. 16th, was a resounding success for all involved. The athletes had a great run (and swim and ride!), and the volunteers and supporters all came out to have a good time. This year's organizer Ing-Marie even participated herself! Conversation with Aikido Masters
Cristo, an Aurovillian since 1974, along with Surya and others, is deeply involved in conducting Aikido classes for both children and adults at Auroville. In Feb 2012, he organized a workshop and to lead it, invited Jean-Pierre Pigeau, 6th Dan Teacher in Paris and executive of the French Federation of Aikido and Budo (FFAB). In this conversation with them we learn how Aikido helps one to balance the body and mind, and also how in a way this martial art connects with the philosophy of Auroville of 'transformation of the consciousness'. Running with a smile
The Auroville Marathon ( is held in February each year and this year is the fifth anniversary of the event. This program contains interviews with Chandresh and Balaji, two organizers who make the Marathon possible. While Chandresh talks about how he first had the idea of having a Marathon for Auroville, Balaji goes through the challenges involved in organizing an event that has over two thousand participants from all over the world. Hat Tournament
Sports ground at Certitude, the field next to and Udavi sports ground were very lively past weekend with Hat Tournament , which is ultimate frisbee tournament a different way with mixed team, as Mark explained it to us. Twelve teams consisted of seven players played for four games (long 1h15m) in the morning and two games in the afternoon on all three fields. Ultimate frisbee is more self sponsored sport with clear spirit of sportmanship; ultimate is different, one has to keep it cool, know the rules, has to call it fair and work in a team. Read more

Pain management at LEC
Dr.Shanu from the Auroville Health Center addressed a group of trainee caregivers at Life Education Center and shed light on pain related to Cancer. In her talk, she elaborated on the multi-dimensional aspects of the "total pain" a Cancer patient undergoes and the factors contributing to pain and relief of suffering. Palliative care, an approach that improves the quality of life of patients facing the illness and treatments used to alleviate the side effects of curative treatments such as chemotherapy was discussed in brief. Reason to Run
It started before dawn...and to see the sunrise, dew on tree leaves, feel the sand and grass under the feet, was a blessing...the high spirits of people who supported runners all the way, with taunts as well as with water and medical assistance, was gave them reason to do their best, run the best they could...morning cold was soon warmed up by sun, and the cheerful spirit of participants, slowly finishing the distance they had chosen to run. Cheering Up

Ten Minutes With Anandi
Anandi is a raw food specialist who works at Kofpu, an organic food processing unit in Auroville. AA 3rd Birthday

Alcoholism is a progressive illness which can never be cured, and represents the combination of physical insensitivity to alcohol and a mental obsession with drinking which, regardless of consequences, cannot be broken by will power alone. The Surrender AA Group celebrated their third birthday on Sept.12th at Village Action Irumbai Road. AA groups all over the world help millions of people stay sober with the twelve step program which has proven to be not only an efficient tool, but also takes into consideration the spiritual part of the disease.

Connection with the heart
Watsu is a gentle, nurturing therapy practiced in warm, body temperature water, combining movements, stretches and cradling. Quiet will celebrate this year 10th anniversary of practicing Watsu, and in March they organized advanced workshop with founder of Watsu massage – Harold Dull. He created it in 80s, and the technique slowly evolved as he began to incorporate aspects of zen shiatsu into his therapy. As he mentioned, Watsu is first aquatic body work for everybody.

In Svedam at Well cafe on 7th of January was an initial presentation of a dream and a a manifestation of reality of aquatic body work center, which would be located in the hearth of Auroville, next to Arka community. Through over a decade of aquatic and other work in Quiet, latest came to the point where it's insufficient for all the demands and needs of clients and as well of the practitioners of aquatic healing therapies. The team of Aquatica already well expressed their commitment to their work and  to the project Auqatica because amongst themselves they've managed to collect already 30 percent of the total sum of 65lakhs which are needed for it..For more images click Read More.Read more

Auroville Institute for Integral Health

The new integral health institute is slowly getting shape. In this presentation the health team Jocelyn B., Mallika, Mogan, Ruslan, Sumeet, and Veronica with the architects team updated all on the current state of the project. The ambitious vision of the project was presented by Ruslan and Sumeet. Alternative master plans of the building where presented by Houly, Helmut and Salaeja. The presentation was followed by a question and answers from the audience

Spirit of the Game

In a world where athletics often spill over with conflict and aggression, a competitive sport whose foundation is joy and goodwill is a rare phenomena. Coren, captain of Auroville's Ultimate Frisbee team, explains the game, how it reached Auroville and why it is here to stay. The team recently came back from the Chennai Ultimate Frisbee Tournament in which they won the 'Spirit of the Game' award. The award is given to the group who keeps the game fun, joyous and full of goodwill. A game which develops these qualities makes this game 'at home' in Auroville.
