How Close Are We?

The Pavilion of French Culture shows, at regular intervals, video interviews with Aurovilians who knew the Mother. Screenings take place at Cinema Paradiso, Town Hall. As Rakhal explains, until today 25 interviews have been recorded, with more to be done. Rakhal and Francois Gautier are working on them, and, as Rakhal says, in general it is very touchy to record these testimonial reflections on the past and future development of Auroville. At the same time, the interviews are vivid documents of the growth that has happened.

In this followup to the community meeting about the Entry process, residents discuss these and other questions. This is not a new topic. Aurovilians quickly had a long list of suggested reforms and more radical ideas. One thing that is clear is that lack of affordable long-term housing has indeed strongly influenced some potential residents' decisions to leave Auroville. If we want the city to grow, we need to help new people feel at home here. Read more

Despite the heat the meeting was well attended and many residents expressed their concerns. Another meeting will follow to begin the 'healing process', and the sense of optimism was present. Interview with Jean Francois
Jean Francois was very delighted that the group jumped with him into the unknown during the one day workshop on “Collective Intelligence”. He felt blessed on the behave that everybody surrendered to the journey and offered him full trust. The purpose of “Collective Intelligence” on the conventional level was full-filled but his wish for everyone to leave with a sense of freedom towards the individual being and the collective won't be answered for him. In the end it is about the essential being and not about a particular goal.
