Jackie Mouvilllat on the Stick Chapman accompanied by the vocals and reverse writing of Anaka, Manosh Bardhan on the Tabla and Matt Littlewood on Soprano Saxophone came together in a concert at Pitanga last weekend. A memeber of the guitar of the guitar family, the Chapman Stick usually has ten or twelve individually tuned strings. It is a polyphonic chordal instrument that is at once a guitar, a bass, a piano and percussion. Anaka uses a transparent plexiglass with an indigenous technique of reverse writing .

Kabir lovers were excited to hear that Shabnam Virmani was in Pondicherry past weekend and wanted to meet all her Auroville friends in Kabir. She was here with her friend Vipul and also Bela, who are part of the Bangalore Kabir mandali/toli. For that reason they've organized impromptu satsang on Sunday at the New Creation Music Room. Shabnam was singing and explaining the deeper spiritual meaning of the songs, in her inimitable style. The event was kindly hosted in Devasmita & Satyakam's beautiful house.

On Wednesday, for the full moon, Vera, an Aurovillian women from Belarus, played traditional Russian bells at Repos' beach. Many people are listening to the concert, sitting next to her or on the beach, to enjoy even better this meditation in front of the moon. While the moon rose in the sky, with her magical colors, the sound of the bells was in perfect harmony with the waves of the Ocean. After the concert, the public shared a delicious Russian dinner with the soup called borch, salad, pancake and chocolate dessert in a friendly atmosphere.

As he has promised last year, Marc Vella returned with his traveling piano, accompanied by members of the Caravan of Love. The evening after full moon was chosen for his piano meditation at Amphitheater in Matrimandir. Dedication of members of Matrimandir Team and volunteers with the joyfully atmosphere of working together have created beautiful set up for the piano just next to the urn. Given the recent news attention to the rape case in New Delhi and other cases of violence against woman across India. Anandi and Noel organized a special meditation session for Aurovillian's to radiate love and kindness to protect and support all woman in India and across the world. Anandi also displayed two very old wooden Goddess statues. One includes a Rain Goddess from Africa. The meditation was opened by Noel and lasted for fortyfive minutes. Thanks to the twenty plus people that came to meditate.

How often do you get to attend a 90th birthday celebration? Come on in and enter the Tibetan Pavilion with Auroville Radio, capturing the ambiance and the essence of the event. A beautiful affair to honor Krishna's life, the celebration was held Tuesday evening, from 5:30-6:30. Attendees included the elders of Auroville, friends and family of Krishna, people from the Ashram and other Aurovilians. People lined up around the pavilion to give personal regards to Krishna one by one. There was a seated meditation and beautiful invocation by Joy.

Ladislav Brozman, a violinist and music teacher at the International Center for Education (Pondicherry) gave a solo violin concert at Savitri Bhavah Saturday evening the 8th of September.
Brozman took to the violin at the age seven in his country of birth, the former Czechoslavakia. He studied under renowned violinists like Josef Kromer, Andre Jacot, M. Benat, and Andrej Lutschg in his hometown and later in Switzerland and the USA.

Matri Arpanam - a once in a Blue Moon(*) happening. 30th August 2012. Matrimandir team informs us that due to the announced All India Bandh Matrimandir will be open for meditation for Aurovillians and newcomers only from 6am to 8.30am and 4.30pm to 8pm. We are requested to bring our friends and family members on any other day. The Russian Singing Bells came to Auroville as an inspiration for the Russian Pavilion about four years ago, and ever since have been bringing special and joyful experience to many during the Sunday meditations at Unity Pavilion in International Zone. In order to celebrate the turn of the year, Tibetan students from Dharamsala let us listen to their traditional chanting in the Tibetan Pavilion. After their singing the audience was invited to join in meditation. Each year of the 12-year circle of the Chinese calendar is represented by a different animal. This wednesday was the first day of the Dragon year 2139. The day before a new year begins, Tibetans affirm their dedication to the dharma by chanting and meditating.
