Diwali Together, Solar Eclipse
Deepawali or Diwali is certainly the biggest and the brightest of all Hindu festivals which literally illumines the country with its brilliance, and dazzles all with its joy. Keep the Faith
For almost a decade, but surely with acceleration in last year or two, Auroville beach community Repos has been "eaten" away by the severe beach erosion. Bhaga shares with us some thoughts on it... Until recently no speciific action was taken from the official Auroville regarding the problem. Cyclone Relief Team instructed by Working Committee has started to help the community with clean up. Success Teams Report
Following are the minutes of yesterdays Values&Priorities Meeting on Success Team Meeting. The Action Teams - Participatory Planning, Affordable Housing, Entry, Economy, Violence and disobedience of the accepted rules in Auroville presented what actions has been taken at their team for the last two weeks. At the same time need for more action teams was expressed by participants, and those were added to the list. Today's feaure is an excerpt from Chinese healer Master Xiao who recently visited Auroville and demonstrated a technique that is said to heal just about anything and everything; a do-it-yourself method involving an elongated stretch plus slapping yourself, with your hands, and I do mean some hard slapping! One could say beating in fact! Basically on inner elbows, around knees, ankles, feet plus anyplace else that gives pain.At a demonstration in Pitanga Hall, some in the audience volunteered themselves and did experience pain relief. Dreamcatcher`s Revisited: Forum

With the threat of a cyclone looming, some dedicated Aurovilians met in a forum to dissolve polarities and revisit the spirit of the Dreamcatcher's work. David (Luminosity) was there to speak to the process of the Dreamcatchers and the essence of its success. Nevi, Agnes and Gopal came from Darkali. B, Luigi the hosts, extending this exercise to a bigger group. Some initial resistance captured the focus of the discussion to reflect on our reactions and general process in Auroville, moving toward utter honesty and transparency. Read more

Featuring is an interview with Jill and visiting director Heimanot Alemu from Ethiopia. After months of discussing, and trying to make sense of what the community really value, and where do we want to go on collective level-which should be our priorities, yesterdays meeting brought lots of positivism. Despite rain shower the number of present residents was high, participants eager to start with the work. Hunger Strike Against Bullying

Hunger strike against bullying
Jan, long time Aurovillian decided last week to embark on a hunger strike to speak out against intra-community bullying. Jan says that the recent events at Svaram have instigated him to do some action of protest, and his action of choice is abstaining against food. Please listen to what he has to say, detailing the events of last week's Svaram rampage and Jan's perspective and reaction. IS Auroville an Eco-Village? This question is not a new one, but twice a year a group of students from North America come to Auroville to study on the university program Living Routes. They come each time fresh and curious, wanting to see what Auroville has to offer and struggle to understand the complexities alive on the ground here in Tamilnadu. Swaha Blues Band
On the night of fund raising event for the studio repairs at Kalabhumi on Wednesday 3rd of October Swaha Blues Band brought on the stage mellow sounds of classical blues and rock'n'roll songs. Despite the nostalgic blues definition and melos, Swaha Blues Band sounded optimistic, and audience excitedly cheered them up. The Band are Swaha on vocal, Rolf on bass, Edo on guitar, Ingo on harp harmonica, Pierre on guitar, and Jonathan on drums and guitar.

About 30- 45% of energy that passes through an inverter system is lost. Shamey Gazal and Tabla at Pitanga
Saturday the sixth of October, at 7:30 pm the Pitanga Cultural Centre hosted a brilliant evening for all who attended. This tabla harmonium and vocal ragas concert is worth tuning into! Shri Baloo Dutta, a well-known Indian classical musician and vocalist from Bengal, graced Auroville with his presence the evening of October 8th in Pitanga. The crowd was very much involved in the performance, sending receptive energy and positive feedback. Accompanying Baloo was Shri Biplav Burman, a tabla artist who had visited Auroville before.

Yemadas at Solitude
Solitude Farm with its Friday Vegan Sushi Dinner with live music is slowly consolidating tradition - the 7th one warmly welcomed Yemadas just returning from their trip. Yemadas - Anisha, Tiaguy and Namoh created earthly yet dreamy atmosphere of rhythms so close to the heart, and in a deep connection with our ancient traditions that it did not took long before the patrons started to sing along.
