General Meeting Entry process

Yesterday a General Meeting was held at SAWCHU, Bharat Nivas. A new entry process proposal, as asked for by the community during the Open Platform meetings. Santo introduced the "3 steps Entry process", based on faith and trust. The project was clearly introduced during the meeting. Land Exchange, Entry

On Wednesday, October 23rd, we are invited by LMTF to a 2nd General Meeting regarding a land exchange proposal involving the North Eastern Greenbelt. This will take place at 4pm at the Unity Pavilion (International Zone). On Friday the 25th, at 4.30pm, the Entry Task Force would like to present their new proposal for the entry process, this too at the Unity Pavilion. The proposal is in response to a request from the community during the Open Platform meeting on Entry. Also on Friday, at 7.30pm Genius Brothers will present Classik Stuff at the Visitor Centre, followed by an 8.30pm Unity Pavilion A Lo Latino concert featuring Dondieu Divine on keyboards.Read more

Presentation for Newcomers

Board members of Stichting De Zaaier - Martine Busek, Jan-Willen Pieterson and Freek Schiphorst - are currently visiting Auroville. They have already talked to many people and units about their projects and services. A presentation to newcomers on Stichting de Zaaier had been scheduled and took place yesterday morning in the Town Hall Conference Room. Due, perhaps, to the slight delay and to the work commitment of the 120 newcomers, only Fif participated in the session, along with Umberto from Entry Service. Read more

In today's news we are featuring Elisa talking on the coming event "Shall We ... Unity?" taking place on Saturday October 26th at 8pm at Kalabhumi. You can also hear an excerpt from Mr. Bala Baskar talking during the GM on the Entry-Exit draft yesterday. On Saturday the 19th, we are invited to Pitanga at 7.30pm, for a MatriVandana on the occasion of the Mother's first arrival to Pondicherry. Ashram Music Group will share classical Indian music with hymns and chants. On the 25th there is CLASSIK STUFF by Genius Brothers at 7.30pm (Visitors Center) and A LO LATINA at 8.30pm (Unity Pavilion). Read more

Entry and Exit, Unity?

The Working Committee is inviting all to attend a General Meeting on Entry-Exit policy on Wednesday at 5 pm, Unity Pavilion (International Zone), . The latest draft of the policy will be presented together with an explanation of how it was arrived at. This will be followed by a questions and answers session, all in preparation for a Residents' Assembly when the proposal will be accepted or rejected. The official name of the Entry-Exit policy is "Regulations for Admission or Termination of Persons in the Register of Residents". GMs and Garba Dance

For Navratri, on Friday and Saturday 11-12th October, visit SAWCHU in Bharat Nivas (Pavilion of Indian Culture), International Zone at 7.30pm. Navratri festival celebrates the veneration of the three goddesses Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati. The LMTF is inviting the Community to a follow-up meeting regarding a large land-exchange proposed for Auroville's North Eastern Greenbelt, this is on Tuesday the 15th at 4pm, Unity Pavilion, International Zone. Entry Service Presents
Yesterday the Entry Service team presented to the community a clarification on its actual role and last year’s data and figures. With continuation of Open Platform sessions, and with the work of task group on certain issues things slowly starting to get a form. Despite the hot and tiring afternoon Unity Pavilion in International Zone yesterday afternoon was well attended by residents to participate at open platform - a community meeting, continuation from 31st of May - on housing and entry policies. How can we the Auroville community address the housing bottleneck? Or is there an issue at all? In this followup to the community meeting about the Entry process, residents discuss these and other questions. This is not a new topic. Aurovilians quickly had a long list of suggested reforms and more radical ideas. One thing that is clear is that lack of affordable long-term housing has indeed strongly influenced some potential residents' decisions to leave Auroville. If we want the city to grow, we need to help new people feel at home here. Read more

Community Discussion on Entry
A good number of Aurovilians convened at Unity Pavilion on Friday for an open-space discussion on the Entry process. The meeting was a continuation of last month's exploration into how to bridge the gap between the working groups and the RAS. In this second installment, the community reflects on the purpose of the entry process. Residents compare what it was like to join Auroville in the early days to what is required of Newcomers now. Meet the Governing Board
A community interaction with the Governing Board happened on Saturday 6th of April at 6.00 pm in SAWCHU. A good number of residents came to meet with Dr Karan Singh (chairman of the Auroville Fundation) and the members of the Governing Board. The discussion was open by a short introduction by the chairman Dr. Karan Singh. During the meeting the residents spoke about internal issues and policies to protect the development of Auroville. Later on on most of the participants attended to the community dinner at Solar Kitchen. Read more

Back to Normal Routine
After electrical fire two week back at the rooms of the Entry Service in Town Hall, the facilities are already restored, and beside only missing fans things work as usual. As members of the Entry Service Team explains it was due to the quick response of the several working teams as ACUR, Blue Light, BCC and Electrical Service, moral and enthusiastic support , and understanding of many that they have been able to return to their work in merely a week after the fire. Entry Service Burnt Down
To whoever that has came to Town Hall early this morning was obvious that something isn't really right , no power, no sound of generator... people gathering at Le Morgan..."Entry Service Burnt Down" where the calls and surprises, and joke followed. Following is a short interview with Kripa, member of Entry Service, explaining the cause of the fire, which has occurred around 5am. Electrical sockets took fire, which melted the wiring, computers melted ... but team is positive; Kripa says "Like the Fenix we will would be re born out the ashes" Read more

Success Teams Report
Following are the minutes of yesterdays Values&Priorities Meeting on Success Team Meeting. The Action Teams - Participatory Planning, Affordable Housing, Entry, Economy, Violence and disobedience of the accepted rules in Auroville presented what actions has been taken at their team for the last two weeks. At the same time need for more action teams was expressed by participants, and those were added to the list. Since the presentations, and raised questions have taken most of the time there was no time left to work in the groups. Read more

Invitation to Act
After months of discussing, and trying to make sense of what the community really value, and where do we want to go on collective level-which should be our priorities, yesterdays meeting brought lots of positivism. Despite rain shower the number of present residents was high, participants eager to start with the work. After short introduction by RAS members Jesse and Elvira, groups were around the tables with chosen topics - affordable housing, entry, participatory planning, economy, and violence in Auroville&disobedience of decisions. Working Meeting
The RAS called (Aug 30) 'Working Meeting of the Residents' in response to Foundation Secretary, Mr Bala Baskar's invitation at last week's meeting (to hear feedback on a draft version of the Entry/Exit policy), to "get together and decide what you want" with regards the content of the document. The meeting aimed to work through the draft towards a clear response but did not achieve this due to complications arising from confusion over the policy's role and discussion of details regarding the community's internal processes of Entry and Exit.e

Transparency, Alternative Housing
For many participants the proposed agenda for the Values and Priorities meeting no. 4, was not really acceptable; on Restriction to Entry, when we should have examined the proposal for outlying lands be converted into resources to buy land within the Master Plan Area (in order to develop affordable houses) the meeting concluded after more than two hours of lively discussion. It was clear that we need to explore further the costs of present construction, which seems to be blown up; let's come up with concrete plans for alternative housing. Read more

Mother`s Presence, Working Groups
Second in series Collective Priorities Meetings as part of the Collective Priorities Project started with anticipation, light spirit and some laughter. The need and spirit of change is present in the community, and as we saw meetings do slowly chisel out from the vague cloud what we value, what we need to do, and how to approach it. Although meeting itself was swinging from concrete reality to spirituality, participants came to the conclusion to invite working groups in order to find out what the reality of their work is, and what we can do. Meet and Greet
Yesterday we had a chance to meet new members of the Working Committee and Auroville Council, where they shared information with the community on their current work. In a few weeks we can expect a General Meeting on the topic of conflict resolution platform. In order to overcome the burden of numerous conflicts, the idea is to have a platform, instead of a body or a team, where parties in conflict could find their own solutions. New WC and AC members try to be more transparent with weekly reports published on AVRadio. Read more
