Concert in Svedam last Saturday evening - "The Sun Waves" presented by Hibiscus Art Village Project in Well Cafe. The first part was Concert of Trinity - Daniel, Caroline and Co, was an improvisation with vocals and several acoustic instruments .
The second part was "Tribal World Music" by Yemadas , a band that needs no introduction here in Auroville. Yemadas is a ethnic fusion band who plays their original songs inspired in Africa and Brazil traditional songs. Since Yemadas - Ana and Tiago are leaving, this was last performance.

Dernier concert à Auroville de Marc Vella ce mercredi 3 avril 2013 à 19h30 au Centre des Visiteurs. La caravane amoureuse, avec Marc Vella et les caravaniers, sont de retour sur Auroville après un périple de 40 jours dans le sud de lInde.
Marc Vella donne ce concert en présence des caravaniers et avec la collaboration de musiciens.

Der deutsche Schauspieler Nikolaus Deutsch hat am 24.3.13 zwei kurze Einpersonenstuecke 'Der Anfang vom Ende' im Unity Pavilion vorgetragen.
Das Thema beider Darstellungen von Kafka und Beckett war die menschliche Unzulaenglichkeit und ein Spiegelbild unserer Ignoranz der Evolution.
A presentation made by Nikolaus about the theme of the two representations of Kafka and Beckett was human inadequacy and a reflection of our ignorance of evolution. An event organized by the German Pavilion and hosted at the Unity Pavilion on the 24th of March 2013.

Seeing artists of all India creating in live is possible until the 27 of March. Inspired by the amazing surrounding of Sri Ma Guest House, ten artists are taking part of the National Painters' Camp, organized by Lalit Kala Akademi and the Auroville Foundation. They're coming from Delhi, Jaipur and Chennai and expect to meet you at the camp, preferably between 3 to 4 pm. Artists from Auroville, mainly writers and movie makers, were invited to the opening on Friday. Rm Palaniappan, regional secretary of Lalit Kala Akademi, inaugurated the event.

A beautiful Sunday could be spent in Henk's living room at la Petit Ferme while marvelling at the exhibited sculptures and paintings by Henk and his wife Agnus. Henk who became an artist in 1968 has two reasons for this exhibition. On one hand it is dedicated to his wife who passed away two years ago and on the other it serves as a contribution for the new art gallery coming up at the Visitors Center in Auroville. Mainly Red is inspired by the power of the color red. The exhibition goes on until the 3rd of February and worth visiting. Read more

Jan, long time Aurovillian decided last week to embark on a hunger strike to speak out against intra-community bullying. Jan says that the recent events at Svaram have instigated him to do some action of protest, and his action of choice is abstaining against food. Please listen to what he has to say, detailing the events of last week's Svaram rampage and Jan's perspective and reaction. He says this is a bigger issue in Auroville, which could be solved if a monitoring committee were to be formed.

Yesterday during the national India bandh, or strike, protestors rushed into Town Hall and other Auroville buildings to encourage the offices to close and people to participate in the strike. Today's news features an interview with Ramesh, Chief of security at Town Hall on his thoughts regarding the incident yesterday and how such miscommunication can be avoided on further national strike days. Ladislav Brozman, a violinist and music teacher at the International Center for Education (Pondicherry) gave a solo violin concert at Savitri Bhavah Saturday evening the 8th of September.
Brozman took to the violin at the age seven in his country of birth, the former Czechoslavakia. He studied under renowned violinists like Josef Kromer, Andre Jacot, M. Benat, and Andrej Lutschg in his hometown and later in Switzerland and the USA.

International Teahour of the Edible Book and MailArt exhibition Bake a Book a Day was presented by Peter Netmail in Aurelec Art Gallery. The International Edible Book Festival is a creation of Judith A. Hoffberg and Béatrice Coron. Judith got the idea over a Thanksgiving turkey with book artists in 1999. Béatrice created www.books2eat.com where despite the distances everybody can enjoy worldwide's creations. They contacted friends and colleagues; their first event happened in year 2000. Since then the festival continues as an annual sensation.

On Tuesday 27th at Savitri Bhavan opened the exhibition Cyclone Inversions by Gotz Rogge an artist and an experimental photographer from Berlin, Germany. He organized a workshop with Sasi Somu, the teacher of photography and art at the Future School. It involved some students to make large scale Camera Obscura photographic artifacts about the landscape generated by the cyclone. The exhibition Resonance by Michel Nicolet is open for other four Sundays at Petite Ferme, Auroville. The sculptor Michel Nicolet is showing us a remarkable set of objects. One could say that his presentation consists of three parts: his words, his drawings and his sculpture. The drawings, being two dimensional, appear to be a study towards a special kind of three dimensionality. In the interview (in French) Michel tells us about his life paths and connections, which draw him to Auroville and, through cymatics, to this exhibition.

Priya Sundaravalli from Tamil Nadu is currently having an exhibition in Pitanga. Over 300 ceramic objects, which are all very unique, can be visited until the 24th of March. Her art is quite unusual and the thin shapes of her creations make the items look fragile. Instead of thinking and planning her work, she is trying to let her inspiration flow freely and allows herself to do whatever is coming up. If items crack she repairs them with a Japanese technique: 'Nothing is a defect, accidents are seen as part of what is supposed to happen.'

On Saturday the 3rd at 4 pm in Kala Kendra is started the exhibition Misja Auropol (Mission in Auroville) by six contemporary artist from Poland currently residing in Auroville, .
The Collective exhibition as a result of cultural geography experiment meant to test how the reality of Auroville would influence artists' attitudes and practices.
The works shown at the exhibition present wide array of media used in contemporary art, from painting to sculpture, installation and experimental film.
The project is curated by Janek Simon.

The Svaram 9th Birthday was celebrated in the showroom building in front of the laboratory of musical instruments. It started at 5 pm with an invocation by Abbot Martin Mosko. He sang a ancient Zen Buddhist chant.
At 5:15 pm there was a premiere listening of the CD Palm of my Hand (by Sunshine Music) a musical poetic collaboration by Anungla and Holger.
Shortly after Katy Sedna performed two songs with her acustic guitar.
Later played the trio composed by Harshad (santoor), Nadaprem (violin and bansuri) and Teo (space drum).

On Saturday 3th at Tibetan Pavillon opened the "Glagolitic Traces" Exhibition of Antonia Duende's paintings, open untill the 10th of March as part of the events for invocation of Bulgarian Pavillion. There was also a musical offering by Nikolai , Marina and Aurelio, and a poem in Bulgarian language from Narender Khatri. The paintings incorporate traces from stone inscriptions of the Glagolitic alphabet - the first Slavonic alphabet, created in the middle of the 9th century AD by St. Kostantin-Cyril the Philosopher and his brother Methodius.

The anti-waste organization from Auroville has been promoting responsible waste management for two years in Periyamudaliarchavadi (PMC), one of the small villages around Auroville. Last March 3rd, Niranjan Kumar and Ribhu Vohra held an exhibition for the local children, displaying the causes and effects of pollution through pictures and posters. Through this, they hope that the kids start to encourage their parents to treat waste more carefully. EcoPro also tries to increase awareness by painting walls with anti-litter messages.
