content (Arts & Culture) To celebrate life and overcoming cyclone was the keynote of Lively Up Your Earth eco music Festival in Solitude Farm on Saturday 28th of January. With Cyclone Blue we went down the memory lane into early 70ies, by evergreen rock songs well played and sung by amazing olny 13 years old Danny, who joined his father Amando and Matt. And it is something in known that made us at ease, so Cyclone Blue hit the dancing strings in audience and enthusiastic share of encouragement. To Joel and his team we are grateful for excellent sound.
Friday, 03 February 2012 (Arts & Culture) Hosting Lively Up Your Earth eco - music festival for the second time in Solitude Farm with numerous stalls of products ecologicaly oriented, gadgets for children, food and lots of music brought community and more together almost a month after the natural catastrophe of Thane. Emergence as the hosting band came up on stage the last, and late. Solids songs of world music and poetic rock, reflecting the uniqueness of city life in Auroville and life of members of the band kept the audience on their toes. Thursday, 02 February 2012 (Arts & Culture) There's no doubt that Marc Vella captured hearts of Aurovilians with his loving attitude toward music as toward audience, nature... Films we saw before his arrival, his personal presence in the town, brought again crowd to the Lively Up Your Earth eco music festival at Solitude Farm on last Saturday 28th of January. We can thank to private donors which contributed needed money to hire a piano from Chennai and with that made it possible for all of us to hear to Marc Vella amongst the palm trees of Solitude Farm.

Tuesday, 31 January 2012 (Arts & Culture) Sun was hot, children happily running around when music started with Oldtimer - Larry and Paul. Paul was also informing us on the progress of the musical part of the festival in his humorous way. Oldtimers haven't spent much time on the stage and Johan ZilverZurf followed them with his bass. Some interesting combinations of chill out and ambient we heard with him, setting the peaceful tone of festival at this hot hour of the day.

Tuesday, 31 January 2012 (Arts & Culture) Suryan surprised us with his new Dharma Trio - beside Suryan on guitar and voice Johan on bass and Laurent on drums which added new dimensions to his songs. His songs still hypnotic and thought provoking, but now dance worthy getting us up on our feet. A true poet speaks to everyone at once but also speaks each individual at the same time; and if it's accompanied with such an amazing and captivating voice Suryan is blessed , touching us all on many levels.

The whole gig was special treat for music lovers. Excellent musicians Mishko M'Ba on Bass, Matt Littlewood on saxophone, Suresh Bascara on drums and Karan Joseph on keyboards played known songs of Jaco Pastorious, Pat Metheny, Miles Davis and Joe Zawinul with technical perfection and with all their love for the music.

Thursday, 12 January 2012 (Environment) When the cyclone is on its way there's nothing a farmer can do. He can't evacuate crops. Krishna from Solitude says amongst others that now is the time to understand destruction, it is time for new birth, where we can make a step forward and what have been destroyed can be rebuild better, with more vision, more intelligence...a new birth...Krishna knows that it will take them three months before they will get some crops rotating again, and a year to get back to the level that things normally going on. Thursday, 05 January 2012 (Environment) Yes, the eco music festival Lively Up Your Earth will happen for the second time at Solitude Farm. About last year experiences and what are preparing this year with talked with Krishna. Beside twelve hours of music mostly from Auroville based musicians with surprise also this year theme is ecology awareness with organic farming. So there will be many stall and workshop because they want to be more involved, interactive. Saturday, 24 December 2011 (Arts & Culture) Bahauddin Mohiuddin Dagar is a 40 year old renowned Rudra Veena player and son of famous north Indian musician Zia Mohiuddin Dagar. He plays with the Dagarbani style and his lineage can be traced to to eight generations, to Baba Gopal Das, who converted to Islam, and became Baba Imam Baksh in the 18th century. At the age of 12 he started training under his father. and uncle Zia Fareeduddin. He started performing at the young age of 20. Wednesday, 30 November 2011 (News) On 23rd November 2011 BSNL inaugurated a Wi-Max tower at the old Tindivanam road near the Hanuman statue. Auroville is within the coverage area of this tower. Recently, an expert committee of the Government of India has recommended that radiation from cell towers be declared as a pollution. Wi-Max is a new communication technology similar to cellular communications and the new tower adds to the pollution in Auroville. This is a cause for serious concern as it threatens the bio diversity created by planting of million trees over four decades.

Thursday, 06 October 2011 (Education) At Ilaignarkal Education Centre a traditional Navaratrhi Doll Show was prepared to mark the celebration of Evolution. In one of the rooms of the centre are displayed many amazing figurines and dolls from the rich spiritual Indian tradition. There are various and many practices depending on the part of India, including pujas, paryers, special food items to honour the Celebration of Evolution. Janaki guided us through, explaining different meanings and manners of the gods and godesses. Meenakshi did her usual annual special offering.
