Spiruline in Windarra farm
Spiruline, a magic waterplant identified as the food of the future for its fantastic healthy components is produced in Auroville since 15 years, the local climate  adds an important criterium of quality : SUNDRIED,  so the plants don't lose any quality during that process . This farming is expending in terms of quantity and variety, including news plants often produced outside the farm (alfalfa ........) as new kinds of farm products . The farm is now totally located in Windarra farm. More than a job for the workers , a daily slice of life. Read more

Permaculture Workshop
From Saturday 8th till sunday 10th February at Solitude Farm a group of around 20 people participates in a permaculture workshop. They were tought about permaculture which is the farming system of Solitude. With all explanations from Krishna, head of the farm, within 2 days, they prepared a field and did the planting. There You'll hear about seeds, combination of different plants. He talked about Fukuoka's book the Japonese "father" of permaculture. The book is available at Free Land book shop in Auroville. Bla Bla - Cake Competition
At Youth Center Bla Bla Xmas Fair was in full swing, music rocking, children playing, running around and laughing, bigger children catching up with friends, bargaining were going on at the stall, food was smelling delicious ... it was just a time for a traditional Cake Competition. Following is the soundscape of almost an hour long tasting and judging of the cakes put on display by the members of the community. ..."Tasteful, but not for children, .. great looking but ..." Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony
Whole day event for the Africa House - Pavilion of African Culture in International Zone was dedicated to Ethiopa. Remembering on this country we cannot avoid coffee. The morning started with aromatic smell of it, burning incense and fresh pop corn - Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony. This was followed by interesting film with some facts and history on coffee. The event is one of the first events which will follow for 12.12.12 , and this one was first presentation on pavilions activities presented in Unity Pavilion in International Zone. Read more

Is Auroville An Eco-Village?
IS Auroville an Eco-Village? This question is not a new one, but twice a year a group of students from North America come to Auroville to study on the university program Living Routes. They come each time fresh and curious, wanting to see what Auroville has to offer and struggle to understand the complexities alive on the ground here in Tamilnadu. Yemadas at Solitude
Solitude Farm with its Friday Vegan Sushi Dinner with live music is slowly consolidating tradition - the 7th one warmly welcomed Yemadas just returning from their trip. Yemadas - Anisha, Tiaguy and Namoh created earthly yet dreamy atmosphere of rhythms so close to the heart, and in a deep connection with our ancient traditions that it did not took long before the patrons started to sing along. Succulent vegan sushi prepared by Solitude Farm team and volunteers, and lighten fire near by contributed to the spirit of the evening. Read more

Community service 2012 kids
We have interviewed five students who have been doing the community service this year. The community service is a program thats run by Future school. In this program the first year students have to do three weeks of participating in three Auroville units and services. The idea of community service is for the children to have some experience working in Auroville units and not getting paid!!! While interviewing these children we realized that most of them liked this experience and found it useful. Read more

Foodlink in New Spaces
About the same time as new Cycle Kiosk construction, at the area of Solar Kitchen and PTDC, was "growing" up, also the new dismoutable house was growing across the road. In about three months the work was done, and since two days the Foodlink is gratefully occupying the new spaces, just behind Nandini. About construction, the cost and the purpose of this new building Isabelle shares with us, along with the updates on their work, and plans for the future. From next Friday, 25th we can also purchase vegetables and food directly with them. Read more

Bulgarian Welcoming
We were heartedly invited and welcomed by traditional Bulgarian bread and salt at main hall of Untiy Pavilion in International Zone on Tuesday, 6th of March at the occasion of Invocation for the Bulgarian Pavilion. Nicolai started with a sweet song on tamboura, and Tatyana read Mrs.Irina Bokova's letter for the occasion. Mrs. Bokova as the Director General of UNESCO visited Auroville in 2010, and at the time was impressed over it. Suryan`s Dharma Trio
Suryan surprised us with his new Dharma Trio - beside Suryan on guitar and voice Johan on bass and Laurent on drums which added new dimensions to his songs. His songs still hypnotic and thought provoking, but now dance worthy getting us up on our feet. A true poet speaks to everyone at once but also speaks each individual at the same time; and if it's accompanied with such an amazing and captivating voice Suryan is blessed , touching us all on many levels. New Birth and Lively Up
When the cyclone is on its way there's nothing a farmer can do. He can't evacuate crops. Thoughts on Selection Process

Guru is Inside
Intimate and cosy space of Svedame witnessed last Saturday 20th of August the promotion of Ana and Tiago new CD with the title "Guru is Inside". Over last few years musical path of loving and expecting couple leaded them trough continents. With the Support of Community
The Auroville Sustainable Agriculture Plan Steering Group prepared on Thursday 11th of August an interesting, and vital to us all presentation on the Five Years Plan. It should secure sustainable grown produce by increase of our own production, which can be done only by the help of the community, by using land more efficiently, by a higher involvement of people in agriculture and by the change of the food habits. Not just the Farm Group but each key sector of the community needs to think of how to be sustainable, to increase awareness.

Suryan and Friends

On Saturday night, in a secluded space of Purple on Auroville Main Road, Suryan and friends secured a special atmosphere with lyrics and melodies. The evening spirit was devoted to Tenzin. On this special evening, funds were raised towards Tenzin medical bills. Suryan known for his charming voice was warmly welcomed by the audience. His special lyrics inflamed compassion,and brought smiles on known and unknown faces. With her beautiful voice, Taranti's invited us into her personal experience of time and love. Earth Day and live TV
Somehow all the events for the Earth week culminated on Friday night at Visitor Center. It started before the event itself with Earth Day vegan dinner, and soon we heard who are the best cooks in Auroville in preparation of vegan dishes with locally grown products. After the food award ceremony the temperature amongst the audience was rising in anticipation of Academic Genius Brother Show. If we weren't really sure why the name has changed(or maybe hasen't?), the show was clearly different- although still with always present critical humor - we saw trough the concept of news of the Auroville TV Live some good excerpts of daily life and people. Awakening the Dreamer
Earth Week activities are in full swing. This morning in Conference Room in Town Hall was the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium, and in the news we feature short interview with B about it. Tomorrow, on Earth Day, we will start with Earth Day Meditation at the Banyan Tree at 6 am , which will be followed by a collective clean up from 10 am to noon at Certitude. The wacky Earth day Parade will begin from the Youth Centre around 10 o'clock eventually to MahakaliPark where will be a pot-luck picnic around midday. At Visitor Centre at 7pm, after Earth Day vegan dinner, in the ceremony we'll see who's cooking the best food; and Academic Genius Brother will continue with the celebration. Read more

Earth Day Eco-Market
Auroville's Earth Day Week got its kick-off on Saturday April 16th with the Eco-Market at the Solar Kitchen. From 9:30 am to 1:30pm, over fifteen stands gave the opportunity to discover, taste, or buy eco-food or products such as recycled clothes and bags, bicycles at cheaper prices, solar lights, water filters or pesto, marmalade and pickles from Aurovillian eco-farms. Njal informed, yet again, on the petition against Endosulfan and on alternative solutions, selling a wide range of books regarding health and environmental issues as well. Everyone could share the on-spot fire-cooked food or register for any of the coming Guided Tours on Auroville's cycle trails offered during Earth Week. Read more
