Interviews at Rinpoche's talk
Prior to Prof Samdhong Rinpoche's arrival, interviews were sought with two Tibetan exchange students Namgyal and Tsened, and Jungchup from Auroville. They were waiting at the entrance of the Tibetan Pavillion to see the rare photos of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, and his documented asylum into India and a talk delivered by Rinpoche. Each one spoke very sweetly of their experiences living in Auroville. Firstly, Namgyal covered the topic of the Mahayana discipline of meditation and, how to be a 'better man' for Tibet. Read more

A dream about the future Tibet
On Saturday 28th January, 4.30 pm at the Tibetan Pavillion, Auroville was graced with a visit by Prof Samdhong Rinpoche. Rinpoche was greeted by children and guests who had arrived for the inauguration of a rare photo gallery documenting the 1959 departure of His Holiness the Dalai Lama from Tibet and arrival into India. There was a sense of nostalgia and appreciation to be present at such an auspicious event that dated decades back, during which His Holiness's asylum had been facilitated by the Government of India and, at their invitation. Wood and Hat Tournament
On February 4th and 5th at Certitude and Udavi sports ground we can witness Auroville Hat Tournament 2012 India Ultimate's. Two hundred players from all over will come and test their fitness and improve their skills with an 'Auroville' spirit . The Auroville Hat is the only 'hat' tournament in India, and reflects its spirit of Unity in Diversity. We feature interview with Kumaran about it. Carrie Dashow's presentation
Visting artist Carrie Dashow shared her work with the Auroville community on the 6th of January at MMC. Dashow, a performance and video artist, lives and works in New York City. Dashow uses music, performance, video and subject participation to examine questions of citizenship, subjectivity, and community. For her most recent piece, Yesiree Public Notary, Dashow served as a Public Notary at the Occupy Wall Street movement notarizing the testimonials of those partaking in the protests. Read more

Fence or No Fence
Walk trough Quiet Healing Centre was in a way relief after disastrous areas in communities in Auroville because beside few fallen trees Quiet looks almost as it was. Luckily they got mostly palm trees, which are known for their flexibility and endurance in strong tropical winds. In interview with Guy we found out that the major problem after tropical cyclone Thane is if they would be allowed to fix and erect their fence or not. Quiet hopes that they will find optimal solution for both parties trough ongoing negotiations with local fishermen. Read more

Peter Head, Director of Arup and Executive Chairman of Ecological Sequestration Trust, United Kingdom, sheds light on Regenerative Urban Development based on his personal journey. Peter has been to 29 countries analayzing and discussing the issues of achieving more sustainable ways of living . A Civil Engineer by profession, he discussed ways to take some of Auroville's experience and sharing it with the rest of the world and across India besides policies and investments needed in India in fashioning townships to improve quality of life. In today's news we feature exciting updates on Auroville Film Festival 11 given by Krishna. Annual Green Practices vision workshop with the title Regenerative Township of Tomorrow starts today, and it will end on Saturday. Auroville Bamboo Research Centre prepared many events to celebrate World Bamboo Day 18th of September. This Saturday they will open the doors of Bamboo Research Centre. Newcomers and Reality
With announcement about temporarily "closed" doors of Entry Service caused for the first time in their mandate since 2009 to get some feedback from a cross section of the community. We need the human asset in order for community to grow, we need energy, expertise, finances - everything that committed new comer can bring. Entry Service is in charge of screening candidates, but if the community doesn't fully open the doors by providing the infrastructure necessary to welcome new comers, the Entry Service is more like bouncers.

Selection Boxes

Resident Assembly Service informs us that The silver RAS boxes will be waiting to receive our Candidate Proposal Forms until Monday 5th September at the Solar Kitchen, Town Hall, PTDC and Pour Tous Aspiration.
