The imaginative trunk on the bypass road between Kalabhumi to Arka was very much inspiring to Liliana to made it alive. Here is a short interview with her just after she and Nelle finished the art installation in the middle of hot afternoon with bikes passing by, and the road workers on their job. The trunk, most likely the remains of the cyclone Thane is now alive again, with purple vest and some very colorful flowers on the head, made by Liliana at the workshop. And, of course this piece of art belongs to all, and invites to continue. Read more

Even though the Hurricane Theater was not an already set play but a series of improvisations and it brought smiles on our faces. Very much interesting and unknown to most of us is the world of probiotics Margarita presented in her talk on "Sustainable Cities with Natural Probiotics at the Red Cross Society Training Institute at the Auroville International meeting in Addis Abbaba in Ethiopia this year. The concept that our planet with its nature is capable of healing and cleaning itself, if we give it enough time resonated in our ears, but since time short for us, the role of the natural probiotics can be of a huge importance. Drinking water, safe waste disposal.

Nous sommes dans un jardin d'enfants ! Tout est un jeu,ne nous prenons plus au sérieux: C'est l'heure de l'inattendu. Nous sommes tous sur le même terrain de jeu. Not that he's know and serious Sufi scholar and musician, but also his lectures, even on sometimes boring subject as it's history, are very interesting and vast. Over a span of almost two hours he managed to attract listeners attention with broad approach to the history of Turkey area with all their migrations. Listening trough the lecture we were reminded with humor that history can be very subjective or depend on who writes it; what to some nation might be a cruel invasion and aggression to other will be merely fight for survival... All the lectures are enriched by Sufi music and read poetry.

« We are trying to increase the population of Auroville. It is going too slowly". As Dr. Karan Singh, Chairman of Auroville Foundation, kindly introduced his newly released documentary film "I BELIEVE", on April 25th evening at Sri Aurobindo Auditorium, he also took this opportunity to share with the audience some of his vision and set of priorities for Auroville. Although he reminded that his third term's main issue as Chairman of Auroville Foundation was the development of the City with l'Avenir d'Auroville, he also reminded that Auroville is about the growth of consciousness yearning for Aurovilians to look upon their spiritual development as well.

Somehow all the events for the Earth week culminated on Friday night at Visitor Center. It started before the event itself with Earth Day vegan dinner, and soon we heard who are the best cooks in Auroville in preparation of vegan dishes with locally grown products. After the food award ceremony the temperature amongst the audience was rising in anticipation of Academic Genius Brother Show. If we weren't really sure why the name has changed(or maybe hasen't?), the show was clearly different- although still with always present critical humor - we saw trough the concept of news of the Auroville TV Live some good excerpts of daily life and people.

A specific slide-show on the Awareness Through the Body classes was also displayed continuously at the multimedia room, same as for the Arts and Craft production in a dedicated area. Most of the kids were also preparing for a slip over at the school. An opportunity for them to spend the evening together, watch a film and have a moon watch.
Some of the kids are telling us about that special day.

It was over-packed at the Visitors' Center on Saturday evening, in anticipation of a new production of 'Genius Incorporated Presents' causing laughs way before the show began. As previously announced, the 'Doppelganger' is a scientific fiction of future possibilities, with the advent of dual consciousness; each of us might have expected various options for the play we were all anxious to see. The Genius team didn't let the public down – this humorous piece was insightfully critical as usual, with some new approaches and excellent video clips. And of course, with an original story of three beings (which highly resembled three known friends in Auroville) coming for a visit, and a possible encounter with a new conscious human being, a superhuman.

Trough the comparison with past, and text as Savitri and Ramayana she wanted to pond on the positive side of changes and transformations. The second Open Stage Cabaret at Kalabhumi proved again that Auroville has many talented people. Skillfully, Jesse guided the evening with his wit and humor from one act to another, also giving updates on performers and acts about to come on, making sure the audience never got bored nor side-tracked. So many different things we experienced: classical Indian dance to ballet and tango, spontaneous, unaccompanied singing to opera, world music, fusion, jazz improvisations...from comic to Capoeira...a truly fun night to remember!

Two of volunteers from Living Routes talks with children on one of the rehearsal for the play - "The Little Bang” that was shown at Visitor Center in the beginning of October at the term holidays. Jesse explains how children, who are the actors, are involved in the play. Children are guided by grown ups of Miraculous Production, but main work is on them. Participating in play is a good experience for them, and many, who might be more introverted, they open themselves over years. Nevertheless those plays are strong projects which creates amongst children special social bond. Read more

After successful concert at Pitanga musicians took some time to share with us some thoughts over their breakfast. Early morning didn't break the light spirit of the night before, and Maarten told us that the name OTO comes from otology - science for the ear. Research in music expression leaded Maarten and Robert to India, where they've met Holger, and one lead to another until few weeks back they assembled the trio OTO3. To all three music is life, and because they're sincere in their journeys they spend most of their time for it. As Maarten said, music has to be part of you, that can be expressed, and he is very honest in his compositions. For them he sets out some musical parameters, boundaries, works with few good ideas, and the rest is music.

Once again the room at Pitanga was almost too small for all those who wanted to listen to the concert of Contemporary Compositions in sound, and yet the intimacy of the room proved to be just the right frame for this special experience. The light and humorous approach and the explanations about the compositions by the author, Maarten, evoked laughter amongst the audience. But still the compositions sounded somehow playful on the given structure, although the approach was taken quite seriously. One's mind could flow freely with the compositions, be amused over sudden turns, and still be fully present all the time. One of the events where everybody was in no hurry to go home.

Today's news features an excerpt from Geshe Pema Dorjee's talk which he gave last Saturday at the Tibetan Pavilion. His observations are from the point of view of Buddhism, yet are they not in agreement with and an echo of what our higher nature whispers to us, amid the ongoing ramblings of our ego: more more, more? He pointed out that desire and greed are the basis of over-consumption, which is the root cause of our ecological crisis. Also in the news are postings of the art exhibits running concurrently.
