Much Ado About Nothing
..by William Shakespeare, and brought to us by students of Last School on past Friday and Saturday. Yes, it was a night of Shakespeare, laughter, friends and families under the starlight in the amphitheater of the Last School. Story with its plot is more or less known: two love stories, humor, mischief, conspiracy, and yet ends with two marriages in satisfaction of all parties involved. Despite that director has chosen to stick to the expression of Shakespearian English, all actors proved their ability and maturity in performing. Read more

TWELFTH NIGHT or What You Will
The Auroville Theater Group with visiting director Haiimanot Alemu from Ethiopia put on the stage of Sri Aurobindo Auditorium, Bharat Nivas in International Zone, William Shakespeare's play "Twelfth Night" or "What You Will". This classical comedy was set in 18th century of India by beautiful costumes made by Kiran, although spoken dialogues were kept to the original version of Shakespeare's play, and language. This Saturday from 2 to 5pm is another open day at Botanical Gardens and they will show the new video that Wazo and Christoph have made for the education program. Talent Show

Whole day event of the Africa House - Pavilion of African Culture at Unity Pavilion in International Zone was dedicated to Ethiopia. And as the day has unfolded, aromatic morning of coffee was followed in the afternoon by the Taher's craft and Marc's coffee painting workshops, and to the delight of audience a Talent Show. Those less shy expressed themselves on the small stage of the Unity Pavilion along with African God and Goddess of Rain. Auroville Theater Group will put on the stage of Sri Aurobindo Auditorium in Bharat Nivas, Pavilion of Indian Culture in International Zone in December Shakespeare's comedy 12nights. Featuring is an interview with Jill and visiting director Heimanot Alemu from Ethiopia. Heimanot known as an actor but presently working as communication consultant in advertising in Ethiopia, also an active member of AVI Ethiopia, has decided for 12 nights because he finds it very universal and humorous, to which he wants to add some "flavours" of the country. The Grand Finale
Genius Incorporated Production at the third session of The Quiz Show have brought us to the Grand Finale on Saturday night at Visitor Centre. Game already familiar as well to the players as to the audience, which actively participated in the course of the event, again connected all in a deep sense of community. And as Wazo commented at one point :"..we are one, one body, one love, one soul...", and oneness in laughter... OM Collective live at Solitude
The OM Collective, a group of four young, creative and talented people from US, was invited to perform for Solitude's Friday night sushi extravanganza. This band was founded after four musicians, all students on the Living Routes program (Ty, Timothy, Trevor and Mitch) decided to collaborate their skills and present a live jam at the Solitude Farm last Friday. The perfomance started with some nice solo guitar songs by Trevor and Mitch and continued with awesome live jaming and conscious hip-hop lyrics by Ty with djembe percussion by Timothy. Read more

The Quiz Show 2

Visitor Centre last night was packed again with anticipating audience which participated all the way through ... even the drizzle of the rain in the beginning nor the fire on the electrical extension did not chase no one away. More, all added to the excitement of the show which was set similar way as the first one, but of course with new players on the competing teams. Both teams clearly expressed flexibility, sense of humor, lots of knowledge on many topics, and of course huge amount of creativity. Read more

New Beauty in the Town

The imaginative  trunk on the bypass road between Kalabhumi to Arka was very much inspiring to Liliana to made it alive. Here is a short interview with her just after she and Nelle finished the art installation in the middle of hot afternoon with bikes passing by, and the road workers on their job. The trunk, most likely the remains of the cyclone Thane is now alive again, with purple vest and some very colorful flowers on the head, made by Liliana at the workshop. And, of course this piece of art belongs to all, and invites to continue. Read more

Peter Netmail and the Edible Book
International Teahour of the Edible Book and MailArt exhibition Bake a Book a Day was presented by Peter Netmail in Aurelec Art Gallery. The International Edible Book Festival is a creation of Judith A. Hoffberg and Béatrice Coron. Judith got the idea over a Thanksgiving turkey with book artists in 1999. Béatrice created www.books2eat.com where despite the distances everybody can enjoy worldwide's creations. They contacted friends and colleagues; their first event happened in year 2000. Since then the festival continues as an annual sensation. Read more

Part two of our documentary where we explore the possibilities of introducing Laughter Yoga in schools as part of the daily routine. Certified Laughter Yoga Teachers and Leaders from Canada, Fif & Hamish, have used laughter as a therapy for children. But now, they are doing an experiment of doing Laughter Yoga with about 60 children every day for 4 days at Deepanam School. Would the kids like it? Is it Okay for Kids to Laugh?
This is part one of our radio documentary which explores the meaning of laughter in a child's life and the role of laughter yoga. Certified laughter yoga teachers and leaders from Canada, Fif & Hamish, share extremely touching stories where they have used 'laughter' to help children heal mentally, physically and emotionally. In this episode, we also observe parts of a laughter yoga session at Deepanam School in Auroville to understand some techniques used by Fif & Hamish to instill the 'happy feeling' in the hearts of the participants.

Hurricane Theatre
Exactly two weeks after cyclone Thane devastated our town, The Visitor Centre was full with people of all ages in a sweet anticipation of honest laughter. Jesse invited us to participate in any way, to play, share a cyclone story or just to watch. Even though the Hurricane Theater was not an already set play but a series of improvisations and it brought smiles on our faces. Healthy humorous approach of issues that might be tragic connected us once again, and proved that we are, despite our differences , one family. Read more

Film Festival 11 Closing Ceremony
Like all good things have to come to an end, so did the Auroville Film Festival 11. After 5 days, 121 films 3 live debates, innumerable conversations and lots of friendships struck up over films, it all came to an end. The evening was dedicated to vote of thanks, awards ceremony, closing discussion with the judges and party. The indomitable duo of Paul & Wazo opened the proceedings; once they had warmed the crowds they were joined by Marco. He then went on to thank all the people involved in bringing this Film Festival to fruition. Read more

Turkish History
Not that he's know and serious Sufi scholar and musician, but also his lectures, even on sometimes boring subject as it's history, are very interesting and vast. Over a span of almost two hours he managed to attract listeners attention with broad approach to the history of Turkey area with all their migrations. Listening trough the lecture we were reminded with humor that history can be very subjective or depend on who writes it; what to some nation might be a cruel invasion and aggression to other will be merely fight for survival... All the lectures are enriched by Sufi music and read poetry. Read more
