Magic Mukhtyar Ali for Kabir
Mukhtyar Ali represents the 26th generation of Mirasi Sufi singer from Bikaner and blends the Rajasthani folk idiom with refined classicism, singing the poetry of Kabir, Mira and other Sufi poets as Bulleh Shah. His performances in Auroville were very fascinating. Prahlad Tipanya for Kabir
Prahlad Singh Tipaniya is an Indian folk singer who performs Kabir bhajans and one of the most well known folk singers from Malwa, Madhya Pradesh. He performs together with a group of tambura, khartal, manjira, dholak, harmonium, timki and violin players. Prahlad Tipaniya toured in the UK and the United States, as well as in India, and his music has been played on All India Radio stations. He has received several awards including the Padma Shri in 2011. He also performed at the annual Sufi music festival, Ruhaniyat. Read more

Hindustani Jugalbandhi
Last evening the bharath nivas auditorium was witness to a spectacular Hindustani Jugalbandhi from Pandit Shivnath Mishra and his family.Pandit Shivnath Mishra was accompanied by his son Deobrat Mishra on the sitar and his grandson Prashant Mishram was on the tabla. it was a perfect harmony of three generations on one platform. The beautiful ragas left the audience enthralled. The trio presented one of pandit shivnath's composition called "ma ganga". At the close of the event they played the bhairavi . Read more

Yes, end of the busiest season in Auroville is here, holidays started ,and at Well Caffe in Sve-Dame last Friday was organized live concert with Suryan, Joel and Will and with Yemadas. Hot summer night, candle lights and mellow music of songs mostly known to us, was a perfect occasion to meet with the friends, to maybe dance, to jam after the concert. After intimate songs of Suryan with Joel on bass, and Will on drums, Yemadas with visiting Anand and Prakash raised the fever with African and Brasilian beats, hard to resist not to dance. Read more

It was also his first gig as an author of all the compositions. Akatha Kahani: untellable story
Akatha Kahani or untellable story is a presentation on Kabir, where three sisters attempt to showcase this special alchemy between Kabir and his listeners by sharing their individual encounters with Kabir. One wrote a book for young adults, another sings her songs passionately and yet another expresses Kabir's impact on her through Bharatnatyam. Akatha Kahani, features Jaya Madhavan author of Kabir the weaver poet book, Bindhumalini a singer trained in both Carnatic and Hindustani music and Archana, a Bharatnatyam dancer and French translator. For his homeback after couple of years Rolf prepared concert on 21st of April at 8pm at Sri Aurobindo Auditorium, Bharat Nivas, Pavilion of Indian Culture in International Zone together with Matt on piano, Suresh on drums and Mishko on bass. Sooner or Later he named the concert which will be consisted of his compositions, and as such would be a highlight of his musical career. Kalari-Fest by Udayan`s Masters

Unspins Bharatanatyam
She who Unspins, performed by Ashwini Kaarthikeyan, was presented at Sri Aurobindo Auditorium, Bharat Nivas. The performance was accompanied with live music by P.T. Narendran (Nattuvangam), G. Srikanth (Vocal), B.P. Haribabu (Mridangam), Easwar Ramakrishnan (Violin), Devaraj (Flute). Gopika Varma`s Mohiniyattam dance

The dance form of Mohiniyattam comes from Kerala. The name Mohiniyattam literally means 'Dance of the Enchantress, Gopika Varma's training in Mohiniyattam since the age of ten has been under eminent gurus senior students of Kalyani Kuttyamma whose student she continued to be for 10 years. And here she is, accompanied by three dancers and a group of musicians, performing in Bharat Nivas. If one tries to understand what really awaits us with the first sacred music festival Kabir, stumbles upon something that is not reachable by words, it is something that will need to be experienced on our own. For sure for three days the next weekend of 6th, 7th and 8th of April we will be busy with it. In the mornings and afternoons they will screen films on Kabir, which could give us the key to the beginning of understanding. Sing, resonate

The Russian Singing Bells came to Auroville as an inspiration for the Russian Pavilion about four years ago, and ever since have been bringing special and joyful experience to many during the Sunday meditations at Unity Pavilion in International Zone. Vera, who plays on them since, felt the need for a change and brought the bells to open-outdoor space in March.
