One Love

In today's news we are featuring an interview with Balaji, one of the organizers of the 7th edition of the Auroville Marathon. Taking place this Sunday, February 9th, almost 3000 participants are running. Runners come from Auroville, neighbouring villages, the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and from all over India and abroad. The Marathon will start and finish at Auroville Visitor’s Centre. The Future at SAWCHU is on this Saturday at 10am, and in the evening, at 7.30pm, the French Pavilion presents Honore de Balzac at CRIPA. Also: Jazz on Sunday is at 8pm, with the Kranti Quintet, at Bharat Nivas. Read more

From the feedback regarding the Water Management Service and the priorities for the physical development of the service area, the Residents' Assembly Service registers that the community decided "Yes" on both accounts. Tomorrow, Friday January 31st, a Residents' Assembly Decision-making Event takes place at the Solar Kitchen. From 10am to 4pm, one can have a say regarding a) the proposal to convert the Water Maintenance Service (WMS) to a 'true service' and b) the priorities for the physical development of the Service Area. EARTHBEAT - A Journey of World Music & Dance with Vanaver Caravan, can be enjoyed tonight at 7.30pm at Cripa,  Kalabhumi. The play "Madwomen of Chaillot" by Jean Giraudou will be on during three evenings in February, dates being 1st to 3rd. GM, Music and Dance

A GM to discuss options for the protection of Auroville lands is planned for Wednesday at 4.30pm, at Unity Pavilion in the International Zone. On the same day, at 8pm, we are invited to hear the Music Ensemble of Auroville at CRIPA, Kalabhumi. Chloe on flute, Holger on violin, and Nadaprem on viola will surely be giving an excellent classical performance including compositions by Beethoven, Mozart and others. Today, from 10am to 4pm, a Residents' Assembly Decision Making Event takes place at Unity Pavilion (International Zone). On Wednesday, Dr. Karunakara, past international President of 1999 Nobel Peace Prize Recipient "Doctors Without Borders" is coming to Auroville, to cycle and to give a short presentation. This Saturday, we are invited, at 4pm, to the Unity Pavilion, International Zone, by Entry Service, for a brainstorming session on the different possible ways of being associated with Auroville. The Residents Assembly Service invites us tomorrow at 4.30pm, to the Unity Pavilion (International Zone), for a General Meeting on the Water Maintenance Service. The Entry Service invites us on Saturday at 3pm, also to the Unity Pavilion, for a brainstorming / work session on the different possible ways of being associated with Auroville. Tomorrow  we are invited to Pitanga at 8pm for Spandam - a music session by Rita Jain. 10 years, Live Music

On Saturday at 8pm, there will be live music with Nuria, Matt, Martin, Mishko, and Rahul offering Catalan-Spanish Songs at Cripa. On the same day, at 9am, Drupad is giving a 24hr non stop Mime Performance in the Sacred Grove Community. It ends on Sunday January 4th at 9am. On Saturday, Sadhana Forest kicks off its 10th Birthday celebrations, at 1pm. They start with workshops for children and end on Sunday morning. As of Saturday 8pm, there will be Kabir music performed by acclaimed musicians, all night. It is a free event, even providing shuttle buses from and to the Solar Kitchen throughout the day and night. ”Fair Extraordinaire”

The Youth Centre "Fair Extraordinaire" takes place on Saturday the 28th from 2pm onwards, offering all the fun that the community favors for the holiday season. Today at 5pm, the Pavilion of Tibetan Culture (International Zone) invites us to a rare occasion of the opening of an exhibition prepared by the Tibet Museum unit of the Department of International Relations of the Central of Tibetan Administration (Dharamsala). Students on Communication, Frisbee

In today's news we are featuring short interviews made by our volunteer Anahita with students from Linnaeus University  in Sweden. Donna and Johanes talk about their perspectives on work with NGO's in Auroville, for achieving better communication, though their specific assignments remain unknown so far. Sri Aurobindo Auditorium, Bharat Nivas, Pavilion of Indian Culture will host two cultural programs this weekend, on Friday puppet theater, and on Saturday Odissi dance. In today's news we are featuring Michael talking on the second edition of Cafe Auroville, which will

happen tomorrow from 1pm onward, at Unity Pavilion in the International Zone. The second interview is with Balaji on the 7th edition of the Auroville Marathon, which will take place on February 9th, 2014. 3rd GM new selection process

Last night, the third General Meeting on the new selection process for the AV Council and the Working Committee was held, in the new SAIIER building. Although most Aurovilians will agree that changes are needed, not many attended this Questions and Answers session. Therefore, the study group now faces a choice, to: a) Go for a Resident Assembly decision making event, or b) Go through the selection process and to present the newly elected people together with the new process, for the approval of the community. Today, the 3rd GM on the selection process takes place, at 4pm, in the SAIIER building of the Town Hall complex. The University of Human Unity is announcing its winter course schedule, promising an lseminar every Thursday from December 13th until February 27th. This takes place at Savitri Bhavan (International Zone). The first session question: Is Auroville an Eco Village? Rod Hemsell will be presenting The Philosophy of Religion and the Poetry of Sri Aurobindo. On Wednesday at 5pm Alla Duh will close her exhibition at Kala Kendra with a concert by Alberto Sultanov. Transition Radial, Art

In today's news we are featuring Manickam and Alain from Auroville Road Service talking on the new transition radial in Cultural Zone and Mahakali Park. A two-layered road (debris and blue metal finished with gravel) is supposed to be completed in 10 days and the road will not be paved until 2017. Gallery Square Circle presents ARTRANSLATION, a residents and group show by visiting artists. The inauguration takes place on December 4th, at 4.30pm. Modern Jazz Dance

In todays news Margherita invites us to a Modern Jazz Dance Workshop on December 7th and 8th at CRIPA in Kalabhumi. Discoveries of Fire, a Fire and Light performance at the Visitor Centre, is postponed to Friday the 29th at 8pm. On Saturday November 30th, between 10am to 4pm at Unity Pavilion in International Zone, we are all invited to Residents' Assembly Decision Making Event, where the proposal "Participatory Working Groups" and the connected selection process are works in progress. Fire, Light, Music

On Saturday and Sunday "Discoveries of Fire" will be performed by 11 Auroville Youth, at 8pm, Visitor Centre. Written by the youth themselves, the performance, through spinning of fire and light, tells the tale of the voyage of fire throughout the history of humanity. At Sri Aurobindo Auditorium, Bharat Nivas, Pavilion of Indian Culture (International Zone), also on Saturday at 8pm, we are invited to see and listen to the Amayama band from Spain. Survey on Mobility

In today's news we are featuring teacher Mahavir and students Mira and Chandana from Deepanam School. They are undertaking a survey on mobility for L'Avenir d'Auroville. After observing designated spots at peak hour to collect data, the children will analyse the data using Excel. Inauguration of New SAIIER

In today's news you can listen to Sanjeev on the new building of SAIIER. Founded in 1983, SAIIER has, ever since, been located in Bharat Nivas, Pavilion of Indian Culture (International Zone). Sanjeev also invites the community to participate in tomorrow's inauguration. It will take place at 9.30am at Town Hall, next to the Auroville Foundation, where the new building is located. On Wednesday October the 30th at 4.30pm, the community is invited to a General Meeting to discuss the status of Ramesh Ramalingam. This GM will take place at the Unity Pavilion, International Zone. The following Wednesday, Nov 6th, also at 4.30pm, we are again invited to a GM at Unity Pavilion, during which the proposed New Organization and Selection Process for the Working Committee and the Auroville Council will be presented. Land Exchange, Entry

On Wednesday, October 23rd, we are invited by LMTF to a 2nd General Meeting regarding a land exchange proposal involving the North Eastern Greenbelt. This will take place at 4pm at the Unity Pavilion (International Zone). On Friday the 25th, at 4.30pm, the Entry Task Force would like to present their new proposal for the entry process, this too at the Unity Pavilion. The proposal is in response to a request from the community during the Open Platform meeting on Entry.
