Community Discussion on Entry
A good number of Aurovilians convened at Unity Pavilion on Friday for an open-space discussion on the Entry process. The meeting was a continuation of last month's exploration into how to bridge the gap between the working groups and the RAS. In this second installment, the community reflects on the purpose of the entry process. Residents compare what it was like to join Auroville in the early days to what is required of Newcomers now. Ashatit facilitates as Aurovilians hold a conversation, collectively working out what should be be changed. Read more

Updated FAMC Mandate Q&A session

Here's the official call for the meeting recorded yesterday at the Unity Pavilion.

"The Auroville Council and the RAS invite you to bring your updated FAMC mandate-related questions to a question and answer Q&A session with members of the FAMC on proposed changes to the FAMC mandate. The draft mandate was published by the AVC in the N&N [491] 23 March 2013, with a request for feedback, and is attached at the end of this week's issue of News&Notes for your consideration again in the lead-up to Wednesday's meeting."

R.I.P. Georgers Van Vrekhem
Our good friend and brother Georges van Vrekhem has quietly left his body; his remains will be buried at Adventure's funeral grounds today at 4.00 pm. Working Meeting
The RAS called (Aug 30) 'Working Meeting of the Residents' in response to Foundation Secretary, Mr Bala Baskar's invitation at last week's meeting (to hear feedback on a draft version of the Entry/Exit policy), to "get together and decide what you want" with regards the content of the document. The meeting aimed to work through the draft towards a clear response but did not achieve this due to complications arising from confusion over the policy's role and discussion of details regarding the community's internal processes of Entry and Exit.e

L`Avenir Selection Process

Are we on the same train?
General Meeting on hot Wednesday afternoon, with half of the population TOS, but with work needed to be done on planning, preparing an answer to Mr. Doshi and Governing Board, start the selection process... Jesse, trying to moderate the best he can, coming up with elaborate schedule of presentations with Q&A sessions afterward, but overthrown due the fact that most participants wanted to follow the discussion from two week back. Mr.Doshi - Chairman of The Town Development Council regrets to inform the community that he has had to postpone his visit to Auroville by 2 weeks. What and for whom to build?
Present team of L'Avenir d'Auroville/TDC shared yesterday at SAWCHU with the community detailed report on their work for the last two years. As the planning of the city is very complex and structured from different aspects of it, each member was focused on that particular part. After the review was an opening question/answer sharing part of the meeting, which brought on the surface many issues. The mandate of present team is about to end, but common observation of the community is that at least part of it should stay on the job. Read more

How to Choose on GM
Genreal Meeting called by Resident Assembly Service on 26th of April at Unity Pavilion in International Zone brought to the community results and proposal of Selection Process Study Group, consisted of nine members. In first part Jaya presented their results of examination of better ways of choosing working groups for the community based on values and four qualities which apply especially to our relations to each other. Second part presented by Pashi talks on detailed proposal how this could be applied to choosing the next L'AVenir / TDC.
