Eco Earth Day  TEDx Talks
This morning at Conference Room in Town Hall we had a chance to listen to some interesting short talks with its common thread on ecology awareness. The opening session was with Cesare who shared with us some points of Open Source Hardware in relation to the local community or DIY ( Do It Yourself). Followe by Snehal talking on Kitchen Gardens or why we should grow food everywhere. Deoyani Sarkhot emphasized versatile usage of charcoal and which benefits it can bring to the soil. Meet the Governing Board
A community interaction with the Governing Board happened on Saturday 6th of April at 6.00 pm in SAWCHU. A good number of residents came to meet with Dr Karan Singh (chairman of the Auroville Fundation) and the members of the Governing Board. The discussion was open by a short introduction by the chairman Dr. Karan Singh. During the meeting the residents spoke about internal issues and policies to protect the development of Auroville. Later on on most of the participants attended to the community dinner at Solar Kitchen. Read more

Agenda or Not Agenda?
Featured are minutes of yesterday's General Meeting at Unity Pavilion in International Zone which was very well attended. Proposed agenda was about Working Committee sharing agenda points fro the upcoming Governing Board, which they have received from the Secretary's office : 1. process for procedure for selection of WC. 2. suggestions on term&mandated for the WC. 3.process&procedure for constituting various working groups of the RA.4. suggestions on securing land for the Master Plan&manifesting the city. Open day in Life Education Center
Life Education Center (LEC), located in Kottakarai, it's a personal growth center for young Tamil women from the villages around. Created in 1991, it gives them the opportunity to learn English and many other skills like tailoring and be aware of their body and to feel worthy as a women. Last Saturday was the open day at LEC. Many girls were there, dressing their most beautiful sari, surrounded by their teachers. During this event, Zerina, Harini, Bhuvana Sundari, Krupa, Devi, Susmita and the mime Drupad explained their own experiences at LEC. Read more

A documentary about accessibility
Alex is an Italian fellow in a wheel chair. By following his daily routine, people will may understand better the problem of accessibility in Auroville. It's the aim of the documentary 'Sometimes, I can fly', produced by Susmita, an activist who is working on pulling down the architectonic barriers in Auroville.This documentary is part of 'We care film festival' of Delhi. Dr. Don Hanlon Johnson encountered various methods of deepening body experience and changing body structure-Feldenkrais, F.M. Alexander, Rolfing, Sensory Awareness, Orgononomy, Authentic Movement, Middendorf Breath Work, Rosen Work, Continuum, Body-Mind Centering, Osteopathy, and a host of others. In today's afternoon session of the workshop organized in Auroville, he explores with the participants breathing techniques and the feelings and fears connected with this very important part of our daily life.

Touch as Spiritual Transformation
Professor Dr. Don Hanlon Johnson is in Auroville. Today was the first day of a two days workshop about the role that body practices play in the spiritual transformation of the individual. The participants explored how be consciously aware in the physical body. Followed by a discussion on how physical touch can heal the physical body and also emotional scars of the past. Professor Johnson is the founder of the Somatics Program, the first of its kind, established in 1983. Read more

Our Theatre with Prelude
With Jill - member of Auroville Theatre Group, Chankaya - a writer and director of Prelud and Vivek - an actor we were trying to find out what has triggered for Prelude to come on the stage. On solo performance, where we can see how society does define one's life, the team was working more than a year, and it was a true collaboration in creative process. The main conflict of the character lies in the relationship between the mother and son, where she represents home, religious and moral backgrounds and he tries to brake those in secrecy. Read more

Piano, Love and Moon at MM

As he has promised last year, Marc Vella returned with his traveling piano, accompanied by members of the Caravan of Love. The evening after full moon was chosen for his piano meditation at Amphitheater in Matrimandir. Dedication of members of Matrimandir Team and volunteers with the joyfully atmosphere of working together have created beautiful set up for the piano just next to the urn. Piano itself was brought from the lawn to the spot by many helpful hands. And piano meditation has started at fading away evening to a moon rise with Love Read more

Dr. Christopher Macann, re-traces the journey to the Vedas. He is a European philosopher, with original work that carries the inspiration from Sri Aurobindo. Christopher Macann was born in India to a diplomatic family, educated at an English boarding school and trained in philosophy at Oxford University. Since completing his doctorate at the Sorbonne in Paris, he taught philosophy at several Universities in the USA, spent two years in Heidelberg on a Humboldt Foundation research fellowship, and lectured extensively in the UK and France. To whoever that has came to Town Hall early this morning was obvious that something isn't really right , no power, no sound of generator... people gathering at Le Morgan..."Entry Service Burnt Down" where the calls and surprises, and joke followed. Collective Intelligence Day
Jean Francois who held the last weeks presentations and discussions about “collective intelligence” built the bridge between our own individual being and the collective in a special manner on a one day workshop. He started off in introducing a couple of profound questions which firstly every individual had to answer for oneself and afterward were discussed in small groups. Ibsen

As it was announced by Jill, the Ibsen was a workshop production by Auroville Theater Group of opera in progress. After only three weeks of hard work and rehearsals, we have had a chance to see for three nights in a row at CRIPA in Kalabhumi an amazing piece where all the actors put the efforts and energy to bring Ibsen's last night alive in front of the eyes of audience. Libretto was done by Ronald Rand, who visited Auroville last year, music composed by Hartmut von Lieres, and the production directed by Jill. Read more

Ibsen - Opera in Progress
For theater lovers weekend will bring unique event in many ways. In the interview with director Jill, and actress Heeba Shah we find out why Ibsen, why opera in progress. Libretto was done by Ronald Rand, who visited Auroville last year with his play, and series of workshops, and music is work of Hartmut Von Liers, but however it is, for the first time that Ibsen will be in opera, and it is Hartmut's first opera composing, and for Auroville is the first opera performance ever. Social Spaces on Crown
Hillary and Nicholas, two of ten visiting Urban Planning graduate students from Queen's University, Toronto, Canada talk on their project: "International Studio". Within a short two weeks they will try to gather as much input as they can, in order to create a proposal for public space implementation guidelines for the Crown Road. Today they will share with the community a workshop at 3:30pm at Afsaneh's Guesthouse; they hope for as much interaction as possible. On Thursday 19th at 5 pm they will present their proposal.

Low Cost Housing part 2
On Saturday at Arka was the second meeting on affordable housing topic with a bit more than handful of participants. Two short presentations on possibilities in the range of affordable housing were shown by Gilles Boulanger and Krishan. In depth were discussed possible reasons for the pumped up prices of costs per square meter of either individual houses or flats. Out of all was given a practical option to start with the "pool" to collect finances for housing in order to foster the housing available for all, more align with Auroville spirit. Read more
