Just open your ears... For the World Listening Day Svaram invited us for a sound walk through Auroville soundscape. We started in Svaram crossing the village of Kotakarai, continue to the forest, arrive in the Matrimandir nursery and finally reached Unity Pavilion to listen to the mystique Russian bells. Listen to the recording of this walk and try to emerge yourself into the texture of sounds, feel reflection of sound to your inner landscape. The good thing is that we don't have to tell you how to listen, so enjoy !!

La lenta migrazione delle stelle da est verso ovest lascia posto alle luci dell'alba ed i primi ad accorgersene sono gli uccelli. I suoni della notte lentamente vengono soppraffatti dalla sonorita' diurne. I galli intonano il loro canto che sembra disperatamente annunciare una fine piu' che un inizio. In lontananza il costante 'Om' emesso dalle onde del mare viene coperto dai frastornanti cambi di marcia di lontane corriere cariche di passeggeri assonnati. La notte si trasforma in giorno in questa costante rotazione terrestre.

Scordatevi il brontolio regolare della tradizionalissima Ambassador 2000 D. Una cosa che certamente e' cambiata in India e' il modo di spostarsi. A parte le onnipresenti biciclette, moto e bus ora a farla da padrone sulle assolate strade indiane sono le automobili. Nei tredici minuti registrati su un taxi di ultima generazione, un Tata Indigo, potrete gustare un saporito ensable di suoni...

During the LFA (litter-free Auroville) campaign, AurovilleRadio was invited to participate in the exhibition room called stArt of Certitude's dome. We took this opportunity to produce a sound in order toawaken people's awareness of noise pollution. The manner in which people began to listen was quite imaginative. With the participation of Newcomer Marc, organiser of the exhibition and a designer, we imagined a box where everybody could enter, listen to the sound and be totally cut off from outside, in  order to be fully focused on sounds. The result: a strange sort of soundproof cardboard box called “Sound Space”, a mysterious and darkened sound experience with a long waiting line attended mostly by kids..Read more

On Monday morning the parents of Nandanam kindergarden kids were invited to its open house. The program ran for an hour and involved circus acts, plays, dancing and group singing by the cheerful children. They dressed up in brightly colored suits with matching painted faces. Even a unicorn was spotted among the numerous tigers! After the performance and snacks the classrooms were open for wandering through the beautiful exhibition of drawings, bags, paintings and installations. Here is part of the story of the Siva Temple in Irumbai, according to the people's knowledge: It was built approximately 1400 years ago and people have been worshipping at this Siva Temple for the last eight generations. One of the many stories about how this temple came to be; once there was a Maharishi who meditated for many years and suddenly the land became dry, many animals died. The village people wondered what had happened. They discovered that through the Maharishi's meditation, drought had come to the land.

While working on the composition, however, I was confronted with the tragic news of the recent demise of Syd Barrett, the initial founder of Pink Floyd. He can be regarded as one of the groundbreaking pioneers of surrealistic modern music despite his early leave from Pink Floyd in the late '60s. The kind of music he initiated, together with Pink Floyd's visual experiments during their early performances, have been putting their stamp on many bands and music groups to follow ever since.
