Going Back to the Roots
Thiago came to Auroville seven years ago to fulfill his call to 'come out' from the western society. He and his partner Ana settled down in Sadhana Forest helping Yorit and Aviram in the reforestation project. Later they moved to Windarra - Terra Soul community. In the website of www.terrasoul.org the place is defined as " ... a learning community, our holistic approach embraces farming, arts, education and healing." Today Thiago is leaving Auroville. He's going back to his roots in Portugal. Listen to his experience, dreams and projects.

The  Doors to Auroville

Janaka est un Aurovillien de longue date. Il est arriver a Auroville apres avoir experienter d autres realites en france. Comme il aime a le dire, Janaka a plusieurs vies, au moins 3. Aujourd`hui Janaka habite a Auroville dans les appartements a Citadines. C`est avec chaleur qu`il nous parle de son parcours, sa vie en prison, son envie d`ailleurs, et son arrivee a Auroville, ou il a passer la plus gande partie de sa vie. Steps Ahead... International Zone

Extract of an interactive session within Steps Ahead, Sri Aurobindo Centre for Studies-India and the World (Bharat Nivas) held yesterday at Unity Pavilion in International Zone. Interesting session where the discussion revolved around the present state of the International Zone and the possible courses of action. Most participants  were active members either of pavilion groups of core group of International Zone. They expressed dissatisfaction with the speed of the development. Read more

AV -World Heritage Site #2
Second part of informative session on if and how Auroville would become a World Heritage Site under UNESCO. Gathered residents yesterday clearly expressed many doubts, and over all was the tone that we still don't know enough to take a clear decision if YES or NO. Decision making process supposed to start this Friday, and end in two week. The fact is that Auroville needs to consolidate and protect the land of the master plan, where green belt is of huge importance. The question would be which price are we prepare to pay? Read more

AIR 1968 Auroville Inauguration
Listen to an inspiring piece of broadcasting history as Mother announces the inauguration of Auroville live across India on 28 February 1968. The recording was made with Mother sitting in Pondicherry while 5000 founding members of Auroville conducted the inauguration ceremony nearby at the Matrimandir Amphitheater. Thanks to All India Radio, her reading of the original Charter of Auroville in French was broadcast live to the amphitheater, as well as across India, while soil representing 124 nations and 23 Indian states was placed in the ground. Sacred Music and Fasting

In today's news we're featuring short interview with D.Saravanan from Aranya community, 64 acres of forest with indigenous species next to Sadhana Forest, who silently protests by fasting in front of the entrance to Town Hall. Happy  Birthday Mother!
We're featuring the Mother's voice reading the Charter in in French, broadcasted on 28th of February 1968, announcing to a whole India that new community was born. At that occasion the Mother was sitting in her room in Ashram, and the All India Radio broadcasted her words to the Matrimandir Amphitheater where the inauguration ceremony was in the process. Flute Meditation
Last night at Pitanga Jean-Christophe on flute and Teresa on tampura has offered to a numerous audience a meditation, where music supposed to be used as a medium to get into meditative state. Since this was not a concert, and its purpose was not to entertain, Jean-Christophe has chosen an Indian raga - Malcance, and invited the audience to travel on the sound of the flute with him. Keep the Faith
For almost a decade, but surely with acceleration in last year or two, Auroville beach community Repos has been "eaten" away by the severe beach erosion. Bhaga shares with us some thoughts on it... Until recently no speciific action was taken from the official Auroville regarding the problem. Cyclone Relief Team instructed by Working Committee has started to help the community with clean up. Today's feaure is an excerpt from Chinese healer Master Xiao who recently visited Auroville and demonstrated a technique that is said to heal just about anything and everything; a do-it-yourself method involving an elongated stretch plus slapping yourself, with your hands, and I do mean some hard slapping! One could say beating in fact! Basically on inner elbows, around knees, ankles, feet plus anyplace else that gives pain.At a demonstration in Pitanga Hall, some in the audience volunteered themselves and did experience pain relief. Featuring is an interview with Jill and visiting director Heimanot Alemu from Ethiopia. Heimanot known as an actor but presently working as communication consultant in advertising in Ethiopia, also an active member of AVI Ethiopia, has decided for 12 nights because he finds it very universal and humorous, to which he wants to add some "flavours" of the country.
