Read more

It felt like the spirit of the Divine had investigated the Sri Aurobindo's Auditorium at Bharat Nivas while Latif Bolat and Parvathy Baul sang and read mystic poetry during their common concert on Saturday April 30th evening. The Sufi Scholar and Musician ended his stay at Auroville offering some talks on the history of the Sufism journey, reading contemporary poems and playing some of his compositions. Awareness, concern and Love
Found in the forests of Auroville are the basis of the products created at Shraddanjali: flowers, leaves, seeds and seedpods. And love and appreciation for the treasures of Nature. Abha, creatrix of Shraddanjali, puts it this way: to showcase the marvelous miracles of Nature so that viewers get a different perspective, an awareness and concern for this planet is the idea, more than selling... she says that's the tiny attempt they do in their work at Shraddanjali. Those who work with her also share and foster the ideal for a win-win situation: that businesses and education on a world level will aspire to make a paradigm change, in recognizing the simplicity and beauty of Nature. Dispelling Myths
A peaceful gathering with a silent mediation was held at Visitors' Center on Saturday; it continued with some facts about the Indian culture, about safety in the world and in the Auroville bio-region. Auroville Health Service shared about the history of Womens' Safety Task Force, and why it needed to be established in the first place. The movement 'Taking Back the Night' started over thirty years ago to help, mostly women, overcome the escalating violence in the urban area. At present, when almost everything we thought we knew is changing with the speed of light, the pressure on humanity is tremendous. With ignorance fear comes along, and to that we all react in different ways. Expansion of the media, and its availability, with its constant flow of what humans think, serves to increase the fear as well, and out of that many respond with violence. Read more

Made with Love
The difference is in attitude, and to run a successful business or work unit in Auroville, takes much more than just a skillful business plan of action. When you aspire for perfection, it is important to consider the people you work with. Twenty five ladies forms the expertly trained workforce of Naturellement, a unit which produces a wide variety of natural/organic fine foods; everything from Indian pickles to western style breakfast cereals. The surplus of organic fruit grown in Auroville goes into their jams, marmalades and syrups. In over twenty years of existence, always striving for excellence, the results are obvious. We know them by their Naturellement label, by the taste of their delicious products...it starts with selecting the best ingredients, followed by high standards of hygiene. But maybe most important of all is the happy atmosphere among the women, which add the spice of dedication and love! Read more

Cabaret Full Moon
For the third time in this year we had a chance to admire many Auroville performing artists at Kalabhumi in the Open Stage Cabaret. Some acts were new, some old, some funny, some touched serious issues of life, some were about dance, some were theater...but all were held together by the ever engaging spirit of Jesse, the Master of Ceremonies who brought our laughter almost to the tears. As with everything else in Auroville, the Open stage Cabaret, organized and prepared by the Auroville Performing Artist group, is evolving and progressing. Each Cabaret is in better shape, and you can always feel it is done with a lot of enthusiasm and heart.Read more
