The whole gig was special treat for music lovers. Excellent musicians Mishko M'Ba on Bass, Matt Littlewood on saxophone, Suresh Bascara on drums and Karan Joseph on keyboards played known songs of Jaco Pastorious, Pat Metheny, Miles Davis and Joe Zawinul with technical perfection and with all their love for the music. |

On one way each of us was going trough intimate isolating issues manifested in physical cleaning around the house, but hurricane happened to all of us, no matter Aurovilians, guests, volunteers; brought the unifying moment with it. | Beach side one week after cyclone |
| The beach side was heavily damaged during the cyclone. One week after, reconstruction work is going on. In the town Periyamudaliarchavadi, people were helping government working men clearing away fallen trees to restore electricity lines. Near Repos beach lives Bhaga, already for 20 years now. She gives an account of what happened. During our interview, reconstruction workers entered her back garden with heavy machinery. This ended our talk prematurely, as Bhaga had to go outside to prevent the machine doing too much destruction. |

| New year prayer, Tibetan pavilion |
| Yesterday, at the Tibetan pavilion took place the traditional prayer to celebrate the new year. It occurred exceptionally on the 10th of January due to the cyclone. Probably more meaningful than ever for Auroville, after a strenuous ending year, this collective celebration opens officially 2012.
Surrounded by 1000 candles, this event gathered everybody, Aurovilians as guests, to meditate and welcome the new year.

Every year the commemorative music festival Tyagaraja Aradhana is held at Thiruvaiyaru in Tyagaraja's honour. This is a week-long festival of music where various Carnatic musicians from all over the world get together with their veenas, violins, flutes, nagasvarams, mridangams and ghatams. |

Films we saw before his arrival, his personal presence in the town, brought again crowd to the Lively Up Your Earth eco music festival at Solitude Farm on last Saturday 28th of January. We can thank to private donors which contributed needed money to hire a piano from Chennai and with that made it possible for all of us to hear to Marc Vella amongst the palm trees of Solitude Farm. |

| Saturday 21th of January at Bharas Nivas, Jyoti Khare inaugurated the exhibition PRESENCE; a collection of paintings and collages developed during the past 10 years using The Mother's clothes and sarees.
In this interview Jyoti shares about the creative process, her sources of inspiration, and how a person without training can produce a piece of professional art.
The exhibition will be open until the middle of February 2012. |

| Hemant is part of the Auroville Cyclone Relief & Rehabilitation Team. In this interview he's sharing the last few days of work of the many groups involved in the relief and rehabilitation. In the coming days the electricity will be restored in the center of Auroville but in other places it will take 4 weeks since the TNB personal is busy in other places. The main electrical work is done by Aurovilians.The positive aspect of the cyclone's event is the fact that many persons came together to help each other. Many guest also joined in this effort. |

| On the16th February of 2010 there had been a presentation in Town Hall, held by the acknowledged architects Dean D’ Cruz from Goa and Ms. Mette from Denmark. With the aim to share their work in the field of architecture and planning w ith the Aurovillians, Dean`s presentation included his involvement with the preparation of the Goa Regional Plan. Mette Lange, an architect who has her base both in Denmark and Goa, works with a few other Danish architects and engineers on a project to create sustainable modular housing for India. The presentations were followed by an interactional part with the audience, including some discussions. |

That this process reflects many goals of Auroville. Auroville is suppose to be a place of unending education (developing one's skills in video would definitely fit the bill), a place of human unity, many of the films were done by village kids, plus the atmosphere of cooperation and collaboration (not competition) in making the films was really great. | Anand Kumar talk on Mutation II A Clearing was touching biology point of mutation. As a biologist performing his work in genetic, infertility, cancer and hormonal investigation he started to ask himself, after reading Sri Aurobindo work twenty years back, what is the meaning of all life. Sri Aurobindo wrote that tradition of changes is the oldest tradition, but Kumar noted that tradition of mutation is actually the oldest. As he sees tradition of mutation created us, and it will take us back to origin. He reminded us that DNA are the basic units, made out of 4 the same molecules for all beings, from which either virus or a man can be created.

| Uma of Upasana and her team have been busy doing research on the silkworm, its cocoon and the incredible length of a single strand from that cocoon. The various processes that must be done before we have in our hands the textile the world knows as silk will be shown in the resultant book which is nearing completion; it presents the humble beginnings of silk and the various processes of how it becomes silk as the world knows it. | On Saturday, the 20th of February 2010 there was a Tibetan Dance Performance by visiting students from Dharamsala and Chennai and the Bharat Nivas Auditorium was full of curious people. Before the main dance performance the audience could listen to Nandita Di and children from Auroville, who welcomed the student performers with three Hindustani Vocals: Mother's Mantra, Sri Aurobindo's Mantra and a song called Tin Tin.
