Sustainable Livelihood Institute
The Sustainable Livelihood Institute was Inaugurated on 25th March 2015 at Village Irumbai at Naicker House near Auroville. The SLI is a joint venture between the Tamilnadu State Rural Livelihood Mission and the Auroville Foundation set-up to bring in sustainable values and ideas into the thought and actions of the rural livelihood department functionaries. The State government has committed to provide support for construction of a SLI campus in the neighborhoods of the current location and the Auroville Foundation is making available the land for the purpose. In interview with Chief Ramasubramanian or shortly Ram we hear what has caused this action, and what is their aspiration and the path that they would like to walk upon. Since January, although it was officially inaugurated in March quite some women from different districts were inspired by the programs offered to them at SLI.
