The ‘After-Meeting Interview’

Should we open Auroville’s doors and allow people to find out for themselves if the ‘city of dawn’ is their community; or should we assume the responsibility to select candidates carefully?
How can we avoid the Entry Service to be closed for such a long time?
Do New Comers feel under scrutiny during the one year process?
What can we do to involve more Tamil New Comers and Aurovillians to these meetings?

Consciousness is a reality inherent in existence. It is there even when it is not active on the surface, but silent and immobile; it is there even when it is invisible on the surface, not reacting on outward things or sensible to them, but withdrawn and either active or inactive within; it is there even when it seems to us to be quite absent and the being to our view unconscious and inanimate.

Newly proposed Entry Policy – GM

This is the recording of the General Meeting on the newly proposed Entry Policy.

From the Auroville Council:

Dear community members,
We have received some feedback from some members in the community that they did not receive the
massmail from RAS with the possibility of giving feedback. They have over 1500 people in their list already and are looking into why some have been missed out. Kindly write to raservice@auroville.org.in to add yourself into the mailing list for the future.

In addition to the RAS massmail, the Auroville Council made an announcement in the N&N and Auronet 3 weeks ago with the documents of the new Entry Policy requesting feedback directly to the avcoffice@auroville.org.in. We had also said that if you are not a computer user, our secretary will print a copy out for you.

If, despite our efforts, you have somehow missed out on reading this new policy, you can access it here: http://ras.auroville.org.in/new-entry-policy/

We take this opportunity to warmly welcome everyone to the GM this afternoon at 4:30 pm in Unity Pavilion on the same topic. Dinner afterward at Le Zephyr!

Off the Cuff-39

This week we discuss the welcome changes in the Entry Policy and the need for other groups (planning, housing, finance) to make similar changes in their emphasis for an effective forward movement. Does the form have more importance than the content? We may have many beautiful school buildings but few teachers. Our prioritees are not based on the human element but on the exterior development. Is this sustainable?

General Meeting Entry process

Yesterday a General Meeting was held at SAWCHU, Bharat Nivas. A new entry process proposal, as asked for by the community during the Open Platform meetings. Santo introduced the "3 steps Entry process", based on faith and trust. The project was clearly introduced during the meeting. You may also read the Working draft Entry process , the booklet on joining Auroville, as well as the form 1. Participants stated that the housing topic is related and should be’ carefully monitored…

…and addressed at the same time as any modification of the entry policy. This in order to not end up with a lot of people with no place to stay.
