Skin Bleaching is Addictive!

For Catherine Tetteh the story of skin bleaching is very personal. She is actively educating people and fighting against skin bleaching in Togo and throughout Africa.  People are not aware of the Skin Bleaching industry being more profitable than the Pharmaceutical industry, or illicit drugs,  along with dangerous effects.  Aside from some of the very dangerous and harmful ingredients of bleaching products, it is also a fact that they are highly addictive due to cortisone as a main ingredient of those products.
Catherine talks about various side effects of daily usage of skin bleaching products which vary from skin rashes to cancers, sterility, and diseases induced by deep penetration of toxic and carcinogenic bio-products into the body.
Skin bleaching is widely used around the planet.  The reasons for its use slightly vary in different parts, but have a common denominator – “beauty comes first” says Catherine, but people and the industry are quiet about it.

What Is Skin Bleaching?
Skin bleaching is a cosmetic treatment to reduce the prominence of skin
discolorations and even out the color of the skin. You can buy bleaching creams over the counter and by prescription.
Some people apply skin
lightener to their entire body to change their complexion, but this can be very risky. The active ingredient in some skin lighteners is mercury, so bleaching can lead to mercury poisoning.
Mercury is a
toxic agent that can cause serious psychiatric, neurological, and kidney problems. Pregnant women who use a skin lightener with mercury can pass the mercury to their unborn child.
The use of mercury as an ingredient in skin
lighteners is banned in the U.S. However, some skin lighteners produced outside the U.S. may still contain mercury.

Vox pop on Cinema

At Cinema Paradiso, we have a number of people coming to watch the movies where they spend their evenings delightfully. In this conversation with few of the participants, we get to know more about their liking to the cinema and in the end, we ask with a pinch of humor whether it would be good to bring snacks to the cinema, surprisingly most of us would want this place to be clean and kept just as the way it is for the cinema lovers.

SLI Seed Festival Interview

The Sustianable Livelihood Institute hosted a seed festival on the 26th of July, 2017. The Festival’s aim was to connect farmers in Tamil Nadu to each other though the exchange, selling and purchasing of seeds. The festival focused on promoting local, organic and non-GMO varieties of seeds. In this recording I talk with Ram who works with the institute about the aim as well as the significance of the festival and threats facing small farmers in India.

New Talents to Auroville

Tristan, volunteering in Aquadyn as a software programmer who follows his passion of playing music by night.
He has an intense form of musical expression. Accompanied by his guitar he goes into improvised musical tangents reminiscent of the doo-op period. He very likely has the secret ability to scat.

Gino, with the ability to turn just about any object into an instrument of percussion plays along adding a necessary element of oomph.

Mother's Q & A – 11/7/56

Mother’s Questions And Answers, July 11, 1956

Mother gives us an excellent summary and introduction to the subject of the beings who live in the occult worlds, the worlds which are invisible to ordinary eyes. Then she points out that the advent of this new and stronger consciousness brings more clarity. One result is that we can see things in our own nature which we may not like, but which were always there. She also points out that when the Force which is at work is stronger and more insistent, naturally what resists, resists more strongly. Then she explains how to be in the consciousness that can see the working of the new force.

What is the Low-Tech Lab?

What is the Low-Tech Lab? Is it another business brand using trends such as “sustainable” and “environment friendly” to sell a product, or is this an innovative movement that wants to change the approach to global development?
Considering key words such as “do it yourself”, “local manufacturing”, “low environmental impact”, “economic”, “repairable”, and “for all”, how sustainable and environment friendly are some innovative inventions such as solar panels?
While working on technical solutions, how much do we ease our impact on the environment? Has Low-Tech Lab considered focusing on educating people to be more in tunes with nature?
A brief interview with Clement and Camille from Low-Tech Lab, and Mitia from Joy of Impermanence (Auroville).

Mother's Q & A – 4/7/56

Mother’s Questions And Answers, July 7, 1956

Mother explains how to get rid of a localized pain in the body. She gives a detailed explanation and a three-step method which will remove pain in five minutes. There are also quotations from Mother’s Agenda, showing how Mother worked on her own body and did the same things she taught the students, along with some quotations from Sri Aurobindo’s Record Of Yoga, where he wrote about doing similar work on his own body, fifty years before Mother’s Agenda conversations on the same subject.

Mother's Q & A – 6/27/56

Mother’s Questions And Answers, June 27, 1956

Mother speaks of the obstacles which each soul encounters when it takes birth in the physical body which is formed by the parents. She explains what parents can do to make the body which is created by them more fit for the soul who will incarnate in that form and become their child. She also speaks about the necessity to have a constant aspiration, a constant effort, a constant will and a constant preoccupation with receiving the new force in order for it to enter our being and do its work. Then she speaks about the mental atmosphere which we are usually in, which is full of the negative thoughts that enter us. She has spoken about all these topics before, and she makes it very clear in the class that the students and Ashramites should have already learned these things.
