Exploring Prosperity Gathering

Since a few months a movement has started in Auroville, a movement of reasoning and result.
A few community members have come together and are backing an initiative by the name of ‘Exploring Prosperity’. The group made an introduction in one of the ‘CAT’ meeting. They shared an open letter which spoke of their agenda of work. They invited other community members to join this initiative. There was a signature campaign. On 17th Oct they organized a 1st gathering of all the people wishing to join this collective work. More than 40 people attended the meeting and selected an area of work to participate. The process was inclusive and involving, here the participants in groups shared what is their definition for Auroville Prosperity and then worked on pointing out what are the real obstacles in achieving this kind of prosperity.
the meeting ended with, group members self organizing their next steps and the path they wish to take as a collective to explore solution to all the obstacles realized during this exercise.
The Team is committed to re-allign Auroville to its original ideal and vision, and not focus too much on finding faults but investing energy in finding solutions which can bring prosperity to Auroville.

AV Safety and Security

Yesterday’s Information Meeting of Auroville Safety & Security Team at SAWCHU, Bharat Nivas, Pavilion of India was not well attended from the side of community.
Current AV Safety&Security Team , consisting of Samuel, Indra, Srijita, Mattheiu, Peter, Carlos, and the guards, which took its place about year and a half ago, shared intensively with us what are they going through, changes they have implemented in their work, obstacles, scope of work, and future plans. In all they also emphasized the importance of prevention rather than intervention. In this aspect collaboration with the community is of utmost importance. They would like to have wider interaction with the members of the community from sharing of information to the appropriate attitude of each of the member of the community. Just for an example – in past year 90% of thefts occurred due to the fact that people leaved the doors unlocked!

Wisdom and Ethic of Ancient India

Yesterday afternoon the events room at Pavilion of Tibetan Cuture was fully packed with all those who wished to listen to an inspiring lecture by Michel Danino on “Can Ancient India help today’s India?”. In a very compact, yet packed with facts, lecture Michel offered some aspects of ancient (or not so) India in governance, environment management, education, ethics… and their applicability to today’s lifestyle and polity. India, despite colonization, still stands firm in their uniqueness of enveloping the unity in diversity up to today; where concepts of minority and majority take it’s own stand (or not take stand at all).
Since the audience was reluctant to leave, and thirsty for more, Michel Danino has answered some questions.
The event was made in collaboration of the French Pavilion and Pavilion of Tibetan Culture.

Michel Danino (born June 4, 1956) is an Indian author, originally from France.
He participated in the translation and publication of the works of Sri Aurobindo and of The Mother. Danino also edited India’s Rebirth (a selection from Sri Aurobindo’s works about India, first published in 1993) and India the Mother (a selection from the Mother’s works about India). He engaged himself also for the preservation of tropical
rainforest in the Nilgiri Hills. In 2001, he convened the International Forum for India’s Heritage (IFIH) with the mission of promoting the essential values of India’s heritage in every field of life.

At present, he’s a guest professor at IIT Gandhinagar and a member of the Indian Council of Historical Research. On 25 January 2017, Government of India announced “Padma Shri” award for his contribution towards Literature & Education.
