Shaman's Call

Following musical podcast is a collection of solo flute pieces from Navajo-Ute musician R. Carlos Nakai is an evocative delight. The album consists of mostly original material, from the composition “Canyon Reverie,” to the improvisational “In Media Res,” to “Athabascan Song,” an arrangement of a traditional song. The latter in particular stands out, with a faster rhythm and more lifting melody than most of the other pieces. There’s also “Ancient Dreams,” performed on a bone whistle; the instrument almost exceeds the upper range of human hearing, and Nakai occasionally sounds like he’s imitating bird calls. A classically trained musician, Nakai blends musical traditions to create a whole that reminds one, on occasion, of Japanese shakuhachi music.

This album best captures the timeless serenity of the solo Native American flute. R. Carlos Nakai’s music speaks to the spirit with a simplicity that transcends place and time. Includes original compositions, traditional Athabascan and Omaha melodies.

Ray Carlos Nakai (a.k.a. R Carlos Nakai ) was born in Flagstaff Arizona on April 16, 1946 and now resides in Tucson, Arizona. He is a Native American of Navajo-Ute heritage who began his musical career as a freshman at Northern Arizona University studying brass instruments.
Nakai says that most of his inspiration comes from the expressions of native communities and his desire to preserve his own Native American heritage. In addition, he likes to blend his native music with that of other cultures thereby helping to preserve their heritage as well.

We hosted Nikhil Varagiri, Philippe and Thierry in our studio, and they talk about this performance in the connection to ancient art of Kalaripayattu. As Nikhil, who practices it for a long time, this is the mother to all martial arts on the planet.
” In this show they invoke the spirit of the BHU element (earth). The Kalari warrior carries, in his body, the memory of the earth. Through this process, they are able to reconnect to the pure origin that keeps him in motion with the heartbeat of the earth.”…

Far Out Afrofuturism

Selection of some of far-out Afrofuturistic Music Videos
To see Afrofuturism in action is when music videos consider Afrofuturist aesthetics. Some of the weirdest, strangest, most popular and memorable music videos actually fall under the Afrofuturism umbrella: like Michael and Janet Jackson’s “Scream,” almost every Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes video, Grace Jones,Here we are featuring some stellar Afrofuturist music videos , but keep in mind that this selection is merely the tip of the iceberg.
These particular videos showcase diverse subplots of Afrofuturism: from surrealism and space travel, to dystopians and love fantasies.

Petite Noir “Best” (Magical Realism)
https://youtu.be/7XvD1QN3enQ
In this stunning, otherworldly music video, Congolese
artist Petite Noir travels, by foot, to several otherworldly destinations. There’s a barren desert, harboring only beautiful souls that haunt him as he runs; a neon green forest of digital nature, and a foggy heaven where beautiful angels await, before he’s transported to a deeper spiritual state. By fusing magical realism with the beauty of Africa, Petite Noir illustrates a narrative where fantasy is juxtaposed against nature: emphasizing the notion that Africa is a place of wonders and mystery.

Healing Journey

10 years long traveling around the globe of Denoh Grear, born in USA, but African by origin, has brought him to Auroville.
In short conversation we have touched few topics; he says that he is searching for additional healing, not for himself but to help others. As being a veteran of war, Denoh encountered bad and good sides of war, and human nature, and he says that one not need to accept the war, but at least need to acknowledge that there is misunderstanding, when it comes to the conflict between two beliefs systems.
On his path Denoh found out that he can channel some of healing processes through his art and music

Science of Imagery

From the chapter titled Auroville and now chapters 15 through 17, book 5, of the Ringing Cedars.
Discovering one of the core subjects of the ringing cedars – Science of Imagery. Anastasia recalls to Vladimir through dialogue the most powerful weapon produced by living substances much greater that man made weapons. Discover Love, the past, the future, Egypt, betrayal and blackmail, death and Paradise.

Anastasia is considered to be a surviving member of an ancient Vedic culture, whose powers and knowledge far exceed anything known today. She is the inspiration for the Ringing Cedars Series. According to Megré’s account, she was born in 1969, in the Western Siberian taiga (boreal forests) not far from the city of Surgut on the river Ob.
She says these powers are natural to Mankind and in these books she describes exactly how they may be regained by any one of us.
Most of all she is a beautiful
mystery—one who is changing the landscape of metaphysical thought with her foresight and innate wisdom.

Pem Flow by KinGi

“Connectivity, bio circuitry, aren’t we all vibrating along,
getting in and out of touch,
looping through some ups and downs,
feeling locked in or out,
free to contact, interact,
with whichever next big challenge flows by…”
(words by KinGi)

27th April (at Tibetan Pavillion) was an evening of vocally performed poetry describing some climatic sensations of an inner environment. A single man show cannot be better than this. KinJi amazed everyone with his narration and act and no doubt the words he used. Everything was so beautifully written and with each piece he expressed the struggles going on inside every person’s mind. It was an so great to listen him and to witness his acting, the expressions, changing voice notes, everything was so awestruking and touching.

CAT 14 with Russian singing bells

On 21st April, in unity Pavillion last session of CAT14 was held and it was all about creating harmony. Russian Bells were used to demonstrate how harmony can be developed among various individuals and that too with minimal efforts, all you need is balancing between receiving and giving. Vera with her Russian bells showed us how with just a bit of practice the sound vibrations can be harmonised.
The 2 hour of ringing bells session was so soothing and relaxing, people meditated with the sounds. They shared the joy of sound and silence and to tune with others’ vibrations.
With the music, CAT 14 ended leaving everyone present there totally spaced out, still feeling the vibrations passing through them.
