Mother's Q & A – 4/7/56

Mother’s Questions And Answers, July 7, 1956

Mother explains how to get rid of a localized pain in the body. She gives a detailed explanation and a three-step method which will remove pain in five minutes. There are also quotations from Mother’s Agenda, showing how Mother worked on her own body and did the same things she taught the students, along with some quotations from Sri Aurobindo’s Record Of Yoga, where he wrote about doing similar work on his own body, fifty years before Mother’s Agenda conversations on the same subject.

Talk about Eco Femme and Eco pro

Celia, a volunteer working with Eco Femme (started by two aurovilians and now carried on by 13 more people) talked about the initiative taken in the field of Sustainable Menstruation. She gave the details of how our recent sanitary pads (which are made of 90% plastic) usage is affecting the environment and how its going to affect in future as they cannot be decomposed atleast for hundreds of years. She talked about the products of Eco Femme, the usage of all of them and how they are sustainable as they do not contain plastics and can be reused. She explained the need to spread awareness in the field of menstruation and also asking people to be the Eco Femme ambassador to aware people about healthier menstrual practices and to help the initiative reach its goal.
It was followed by the talk of Dr. Lucas (of EcoPro) who works in the field of hygiene. He introduced the idea of Dry Toilets and talked about the importance of dry toilets, its usages, solid waste management and how the waste can be used in farming which will reduce the use of various chemicals. He also talked about EM (effective micro organisms) developed for farming, crop cultivation, improve quality of yields and later it was discovered that it can be used for waste water treatment and sanitation as it curbs smell and keep it clean. He had also faced various challenges in the way of carrying his idea forward but still continuing with it for better environment.

Peace Bell at Tibetan Pavillon

The event at the Pavillon of Tibetan Culture was a special moment for the Aurovillian life. All the participants could meditate guided by the sound of Russian Peace Bell and play the bell too. The big Russian Peace Bell is a huge and big metal plate able to produce a great amount of bass frequencies with many harmonic waves. The full sound of the bell moves a lot of energy through the body, particularly if you stand behind it.

In the recording you can hear a brief introduction by Vera about the International Zone of Auroville, the story and the building of this particular instrument. Unfortunately the record can’t give back the whole feeling of live sound.

Fear is an impurity, one of the greatest impurities, one of those which come most directly from the anti-divine forces which want to destroy the divine action on earth; and the first duty of those who really want to do yoga is to eliminate from their consciousness, with all the might, all the sincerity, all the endurance of which they are capable, even the shadow of a fear. To walk on the path, one must be dauntless, and never indulge in that petty, small, feeble, nasty shrinking back upon oneself, which is fear.
An indomitable courage, a perfect sincerity and a
sincere self-giving, so that one does not calculate or bargain, does not give with the idea of receiving, does not trust with the idea of being protected, does not have a faith which asks for proofs – it is this that is indispensable in order to walk on the path, and it is this alone which can truly shelter you from all danger.
