Reggaeton #2

Often mistaken for reggae or reggae en espanol, reggaeton is a younger genre which originated in the clubs of San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1991. It became known as “underground” music. DJ Playero and DJ Nelson were inspired by hip hop and Latin American music to produce “riddims,” the first reggaeton tracks. As Caribbean and African-American music gained momentum in Puerto Rico, reggae rap in Spanish marked the beginning of the Boricua underground and was a creative outlet for many young people.
In this musical edition we travel from first tracks, all the way to Gasolina, and a bit beyond, featuring DJ Players, Playero, Don Omar, Rakim Y Kenny, Ivy Queen….

This soul of desire is a separative soul of ego and all its instincts are for a separative slef-afirmation; it pushes always openly or under more or less shining masks, for its own growth, for possession, for enjoyment, for conquest and empire.

Science of Imagery

From the chapter titled Auroville and now chapters 15 through 17, book 5, of the Ringing Cedars.
Discovering one of the core subjects of the ringing cedars – Science of Imagery. Anastasia recalls to Vladimir through dialogue the most powerful weapon produced by living substances much greater that man made weapons. Discover Love, the past, the future, Egypt, betrayal and blackmail, death and Paradise.

Anastasia is considered to be a surviving member of an ancient Vedic culture, whose powers and knowledge far exceed anything known today. She is the inspiration for the Ringing Cedars Series. According to Megré’s account, she was born in 1969, in the Western Siberian taiga (boreal forests) not far from the city of Surgut on the river Ob.
She says these powers are natural to Mankind and in these books she describes exactly how they may be regained by any one of us.
Most of all she is a beautiful
mystery—one who is changing the landscape of metaphysical thought with her foresight and innate wisdom.

Consciousness is a reality inherent in existence. It is there even when it is not active on the surface, but silent and immobile; it is there even when it is invisible on the surface, not reacting on outward things or sensible to them, but withdrawn and either active or inactive within; it is there even when it seems to us to be quite absent and the being to our view unconscious and inanimate.

CAT on Economy

Well attended 2nd CAT (Create Auroville Together) yesterday at Unity Pavilion with the title “Where we are to Where we can be… ” has brought forward some fresh and “new” ideas. Partialy meeting, partially barnstorming workshop in groups, has united different members of the community in the quest to look at our vital part of our life – economy.

Outreach – ACI

How does Auroville’s engagement in the bioregion affect the life of nearby villages? How does it affect our own life? Who is involved and how? What impact does it have or has it had? What are the perceptions of those living in neighboring villages of purpose and role of Auroville?…

These and many other questions that has been addressed yesterday at SAIIER at next Joy of Learning session on the theme of ‘Outreach’.

With our life so closely interwoven with the social and economic fabric of the local population and their traditions, customs, and practices, ‘Outreach’ activities have been at the very center of our efforts from the beginning. The progress we made, the challenges we face and the opportunities we have available to jointly move forward is a topic that concerns all of us.

Mr. Lakshminarayan from SLI

Mr. Lakshminarayanan shares his views about various aspects of the upcoming local body, panchayat elections for neighboring villages of Auroville. He emphasis on the power a voter has, as member of the graham sabha and educates of the new amendments in seat reservation. He informs about 50% seats being reserved for women in the upcoming elections and points out as a good sign. He believes Women as administrators can do a much better job and is feeling rather optimistic about the upcoming elections. The panchayat elections play a major role in Auroville life as well, as Auroville is surrounded by at least 7-8 local Panchayat bodies and hence, elected officials will play a crucial role in maintaining and even strengthening the relations with the local villagers. Sustainable Livlihood institute SLI , is doing a commendable job in bridging the information gap between the villagers and Auroville and is playing an important role in guiding the locals to a better lifestyle and providing better means of livelihood.

Sweet Sound of Latin Jazz

It’s not exclusive, but inclusive, which is the whole spirit of jazz. Herbie Hancock
Unlike many musical genres, jazz by its own nature is a large tent that welcomes many forms and styles. latin jazz is not the exception and consequently, in latin jazz we usually find a broad assortment of musical influences and styles; often within the same song.
Try not to get caught up in judging a style of music for the moral/religious values/lifestyle that you might associate with it. Remember that stereotypes don’t always apply, and learning to appreciate a style of music might give you a window into someone else’s way of life and culture. Enjoy the music.

Batacumbele, an amazing outfit of musicians thoroughly steeped in Afro-Caribbean traditions and also fully conversant with the jazz idioms of the day, are a very important group in Puerto Rican history. The Latin jazz world is sometimes unappreciative of Puerto Rico’s contributions to the world of Afro-Caribbean music, Featuring some of the day’s best percussionists, including Giovanni Hidalgo, Richie Flores, and Angel “Cachete” Maldonado.
