Thoorigai
On Saturday the 14 November at the Gallery Square Circle in Kala Kendra ,an exhibition of Tamil artist Anbazhagan was inaugurated. The event started with a short performance by the Mohanam Sound crew. Thoorigai is the title of the artist’s opus which is symbolically focused on his own world and life. Thoorigai translates roughly In English as ‘Journey Toward Colorful Soil’. Anbazhagan’s work is mostly oil on canvas; the rich textures of India can be clearly seen’ from the soil to the tools and ornaments of daily life, from people in their normal activities, to vast symbolism.
