What is an integral school?

On Tuesday, December 8th at the Cinema Paradiso Partho gave a presention in Auroville. He exploreed the foundations of integral education and the role of the integral teacher. It also looked at what kind of institutional framework supports the emergence of integral schooling. In the Question & Answer session further implementation of integral education into Auroville’s school system has been explored.
Partho has spent more than fifteen years in the field of integral education and has done extensive personal research in Sri Aurobindo’s educational philosophy and practice. He joined the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Delhi at the age of 26 and the Mirambika Free Progress School in the Ashram. (Mirambika is an experimental educational unit of the Sri Aurobindo Education Society, New Delhi, and is amongst the first genuinely alternative schools in India that has existed, without dilution or compromise, for nearly 20 years now. It has inspired several other attempts at alternative schooling in the country.)
Partho headed Mirambika between 1994 and 1999. Partho conducts seminars and workshops for teachers and school administrators all over the country.
He also works as consultant in alternative education to schools and educational institutions in India and abroad. Partho has recently authored a book on Integral Education, exploring its philosophical and psychological bases.
