Mediation for Unity and Peace

Following is the recording of session with Russian Singing Bells on African Land in International Zone – the land appointed for the Africa House / Pavilion of African Culture. After short introduction of bells by Vera and Ashesh to the participants, the whole session, which purpose was meditation for peace and unity, has developed and grown into its own special harmonious melody. Of course recordings are many times merely the pale reflection,’ in which so often we cannot feel the special energy present in interaction at the time.

Homage to Thyagaraja

Bharat Nivas, the Pavilion of India, holded the homage to Thyagaraja. It started two years back with the beginning of Telugu Samskriti Kendramu. This year the homage started in the morning with a procession with chantings from the gate of Unity Pavilion. At SAWCHU started the traditional musical homage of Thyagaraja kritis by the Auroville students, teachers and professional musicians. Songs of other composers where also offered in the spirit of devotion of the event. Shri N. Bala Baskar, Secretary, Auroville Foundation was the chief guest.

Tyagaraja was the greatest among the music composers of South India and one of the musical prodigies of all time. He was the father of modern Karnataka music and his works are of delicate spirituality, full of melodic beauty and in the highest sense artistic. As a child he as already remarkable for his predilection for music and a gift for composing and wrote his first song when he was hardly 13. Soon he reached the loftiest pinnacle of musical fames and composed the grandest songs ever written and two music plays of unequalled beauty.

Thousands of Smiles

A truly inspiring Sunday morning! More than 3000 people gathered at dawn at the Visitor Centre to participate to the 6th Auroville’s marathon to run over the path and paved roads of Auroville. The most common word I’ve heard it’s "awesome"… Believe me this interviews are barely edited and what it comes out is that the runners were just so happy! A very well organized event by the marathon team. Listen the voices of the runners about what they got from the experience of running in Auroville.
