AVFF 2015: And the Winner is….

As the 2015 Auroville Film Festival drew to a close, Svaram drummers Marco and Tlaloc performed for the crowd and, with the help of jurors, gave the prizes in all four categories. The Drupad mime act kept the crowd entertained during the intermission, and the evening ended with the Tamil play of Yatra students which was interrupted by rain at the opening ceremony last Friday.
Creativity and passion for film and other art forms in the community is growing, as proven by the excellent films submitted by and about Aurovillians, and especially those created by students. Every festival gets better and better as the quality of the movies reaches new highs.

We enjoyed five days of interesting, funny and thought-provoking films, discussions on the theme of human unity. We have socialized, listened to brilliant music performances, and feasted on some good food. Thanks to Auroville Film Festival organizers, and all the volunteers!

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Featuring short interview with Kaeridwyn, a newcomer to be, about the theater classes at TLC (the learning community) which is based opposite Dana. Since January, she has been giving theater classes to children interested in theater and acting, working towards a performance of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Kaeridwyn has kept the lines as much is possible in original Iambic pentameter.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream comedy play by William Shakespeare,  which is believed to have been written between 1590 and 1597. It portrays the events surrounding the marriage of the Duke of Athens, Theseus, and Hippolyta. It follows the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors (the mechanicals), who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set. The play is one of Shakespeare’s most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world.
