FAMC Mandate

Possibility for AV Youth

Yesterday’s presentation at Futures school on apprenticeship and internship for Auroville Youth brought up quite some of interesting options. Presentation was made in a joint effort by Auroville Youth, Units and Schools of Auroville, and the Auroville Campus Initiative.
Aurevan, Michael, Suryamayi as an Apprenticeship Program Team introduced efforts to design a core program. Lilith Fashion School, Saddhana Forest, Coffee ideas, Unlimited Tamil Nadu, AIAT shortly presented their apprenticeship programs.
Auroville as a hub of many skillful and professorial individuals does offers many options which could be harvested for the benefit of young generation.

A Journey of Love and Adventure

Lilith Fashion Schol 2016 Final Year fashion show of two students – Chandra and Vanitha, each with six pieces of garments, inspired by architecture of Taj Mahal and Antonio Gaudi.
Fashion show, and more than just a show – A Journey of Love and Adventure where joint creativity of many avilians has came forward.
After short presentation of models on catwalk story continues in the series of theatrical vignette or snippets which further reveals the charism hiding beneath the designs.

The beauty of models and designs along with the series of theatrical vignettes, supported with danceable music thrilled the audience.

Lilith Fashion School with its founder Christina along with Gabi, Gabi and Alice continues the story of vocational training structure within Auroville offering the opportunity for youngster to require the essential skills of the trade in fashion design and garment creation.

Earthship Biotecture

An interesting attempt of creating sustainable housing( completely off the grid) in the harmony with nature and the environment by using waste products – tires, glass bottles, metal sheets, cans….along with natural materials.
Shanti, a frequent visitor, shares with us a story on Earthship which has started decades ago by Michael Reynolds in USA. Shanti explains basic design principles of Earthship Biotecture –
1. Thermal/Solar heating & cooling.
2. Solar/Winds electricity,
3. Water harvesting,
4. contained sewage treatment,
5. food production,
6. building with Natural & Recycled materials
