Agent Provocateur
An interesting, provocative, taboos breaking dance theatre play Agent Provocateur was the final act of 2018 Remembering Veenapani Chawla Festival at Adishakti Theatre.
Through series of dialogues or monologue, illustrated by dance acts, we dwelve in those areas of society which are in most cultures still taboo. Submissive role of an Indian woman in parallel of tamed wolves, or it might be a role of a nation which became, and wanted to be submissive to colonizers….
In between is also an excerpt from Eugene Ionesco Rhinoceros which might be a parallel to a ruling party or colonizers in the past.
That dance theater performance explore the effects that a climate of growing intolerance or indoctrination has on the body and its impulses.
The play was devised and performed by Arpit Singh, Surbhi Dhtani, Harsh Karangale(on drums), assistant director and production manager Ajay Nair, choreography, production assistant Shruti Khandelwal, and direction by Sujay Sapile.
