Dealing with what is predictably unpredictable -Let’s think beyond fences : We got completely inundated by the deluge that just paused now on 1 December. Our immersion was beyond what we had experienced in 2015. Tracing the cause of us becoming a soak pit of the area were the fenced development culture around us, that ignored the water flow, raised bed, and even channeled flow to other lands. Could our compartmentalized education be partly responsible for that? Contrary to the popular belief such intense rain events are not beneficial for food security. Reflecting on the experience it seems we are the microcosm of what is happening in the world. Communities not hugely responsible for climate change are bearing the brunt and many who can afford are debating who is responsible. We are living in times where unpredictability is the only sure thing, and to address that we need to think beyond the fences.
