Convergence Concert

Lovers of Hindustani Raga music came on their expense on Sunday night at Bharat Nivas Auditorium when we had a chance to listen to a renowned vocalist of the country Shantanu Bhattacharyya. The concert it might have been one of truly Indian classical concerts if it wouldn’t have been for the Candaian Jazz musicians Jonathan Kay on tenor and soprano saxophones, Andrew Kay on alto saxophone and Justin Gray playing fretless electric bass. They brought freshness to raga music, and also proved that fusion of both styles can be very productive. Wonder child prodigy Mitra Bhattacharyya, aged only 8 amazed audience with her clear voice and endless energy by participating on more than two hours long concert.
