It was heartwarming to hear the caregivers from neighbouring villages talk about their experience of undergoing a transformative workshop that changed their notions about the reality of caring for the sick. This was followed by some snacks and soulful music by Tiago and Anischa.

Since December 2008 a group of Aurovilians have been meeting weekly at Savitri Bhavan for group study of Sri Aurobindos major philosophical work. In 1913, Sri Aurobindo noted that part of his mission was to restate the truths of the Veda and Vedanta in terms accessible to the modern mind. In The Life Divine the ancient truths, illumined by his own experience, are made accessible to the human reason and shown to be the foundation for his affirmative vision of the evolutionary process and the significance of our individual existence on earth.

By December 2010 the group had reached the last chapter of Book One. Introducing it, Shraddhavan gave a brief overview of the previous 27 chapters. (Duration 58 minutes)

To Belong

With Tibetan visitors we talked about Auroville, Tibet, world, and their experiences . And if means to be a citizen that you belong somewhere, for Tibetan life of refugees is hard since the government in exile cannot issue them citizenship . Those who might obtain citizenship in any country around the world they remain to be Tibetans by their hearts but they also appreciate the feeling of belonging. Internationally they do get lot of support, but at the same time they also know that they do not have the same opportunities as others.

Caregiving at LEC

Urvasi addressed a group of women caregivers at Auroville's Life Education Center. She gave a lecture followed by a demonstration on the various aspects of caregiving and spoke about the importance of establishing a one-on-one rapport with patients in order to have a deeper understanding of their individual needs and problems. The group also discussed some of the challenges and difficulties caregivers face in their day to day interaction with their patients. Urvasi shed light on caregiver coping skills and responses to life situations.

The Life Education Centre (LEC) is an Auroville outreach school, providing an on-going program for vocational training for semi-educated girls between the ages of 14-21 from Indian villages. http://www.auroville.org/environment/avag/avag_lifeedu.htm
