General Meeting Airs Perspectives and Obstacles at the Matrimandir Gardens
On 25 October 2018 at the Unity Pavilion, Marc D. and Meera P. took the assembled residents through their history since 2007 designing and installing gardens at the Matrimandir.
Using slides and a detailed recounting of his vision, research and design, Marc D. reported his experience over the years at the Matrimandir Gardens and with its executives.
Meera P., Marc’s design partner, described her deep connection to Mother’s vision and the obstacles she experienced, while designing and installing gardens in the Matrimandir.
Questions and requests for clarification came from some of those assembled:
Who is the coordinator? When did the opposition start? Is it the same group today as when the problem started?
And others present shared heartfelt reminders that a process including forgiveness, surrender, and cooperation will always yield the most benefit for all.
‘OVER-ARCHING GARDENS DESIGN OBJECTIVES:
As a reference, the discussion proposes the following overarching objectives for the Matrimandir Gardens:
The gardens are as important as The Matrimandir itself. Mother, 21st Feb 1971
The Gardens should be built at the earliest. – Mother, 1971
The Gardens must be an expression of that consciousness which we are trying to bring down – Mother, 18 Dec 1969
The Matrimandir Gardens as a whole cannot be compared or identified with the realisation of any past or present garden for they have to respond to the indications given by the Mother to manifest a specific beauty and various states of consciousness. They are the first step of the initiatory path of the Matrimandir, and have to create an atmosphere that favours the visitors inward receptivity. This research remains to be done. It will be more in the nature of a quest, to allow the manifestation of a vision, rather than a mental endeavour that seeks to achieve a symbiosis of the traditional gardening forms, be they Japanese or Western. – Roger Anger, January 2004.
