Mother’s Questions And Answers, March 13, 1957

THE TRUE FRIENDSHIP

Mother explains that, almost unconsciously, we expect our friends to be like us. But we should want our friends to be what they are, not something we want them to be. Our best friend is the one who appreciates and encourages the highest in us. She says the best friend we can have is the Divine, who is the source of all compassion, and who has the power to efface every error when it is not repeated. Later Mother explained that this means the Divine can free us from the karma we created for ourselves. The introduction to this class has some writings by Sri Aurobindo, explaining how we can be free from the karma created by our past actions when we practice yoga.

If you have any questions, please send them to the Radio, and we will find the answers for you in Mother and Sri Aurobindo’s books.
