Savitri Shows Her Immortality
Savitri continues to hear Death’s arguments that the mind is all and the mind can never know the Truth or God. Again Death tells Savitri that he is the way to Immortality in God. He says, “Thou must die to thyself to reach God’s height: I Death am the gate of Immortality.” Savitri tells Death that the Mighty Mother’s force is in her and she has no need to escape or to avoid the play of God in the world. She says, “Already God is near, the Truth is close:… My mortal body is the Eternal’s house…. I live in the glory of the Infinite.” She tells Death that her heart has grown one with every heart, and she says, “My spirit’s liberty I ask for all.”
