Synthesis of Yoga

This reading is Chapter VI The Synthesis of the Disciplines of Knowledge in its entirety, pages 335 through 342.

“The central aim of Knowledge is the recovery of the Self, of our true self-existence, and this aim presupposes the admission that our present mode of being is not our true self-existence.”

“We conceive of ourselves falsely, we see ourselves as we are not ….. this falsity is the root of a general perversion, confusion and suffering ….. our personal life and our communal life ….. are founded on a falsity ….. although through all this error a growing truth continually seeks to express itself.”

” ….. our primary aim in knowledge ….. to realise our own supreme Self ….. the pressing need of the individual, to arrive at the truth of his own being, set right its disorders, confusions ….. so that our whole existence may find their right basis, may live in our highest self ….. and obey no other law than that which proceeds from our highest self ….. ”
