Synthesis of Yoga

The Synthesis of Yoga is Sri Aurobindo’s principal work on yoga. He explains his own system of Integral Yoga with complete authority and thoroughness as well as examining traditional systems of yoga.

This recording is the first half of Chapter 6 Purification -The Lower Mentality of Part 4 The Yoga of Self-Perfection, page 654.

The complete purification of one instrument of our being depends on the complete purification of all the others … a great difficulty … however when one important instrument
has been sufficiently purified, one step has been firmly taken thereby making it easier for all the others to follow suit.

The deformation preventing the purity is desire, … its root is vital craving for that which we feel we have not, for possession, satisfaction, instilling a sense of want and is, in its nature, insatiable. Control is to be exercised from the supramental level, as the higher Self within takes up the direct command of the whole being.
