Synthesis of Yoga

The Synthesis of Yoga is Sri Aurobindo’s explanation of his method of Integral Yoga; it examines also the methods of traditional methods of yoga.

This recording is of the second half of Chapter 7, Purification – Intelligence and Will, mid-page 668, of Part 4, the Yoga of Self-Perfection.

“The movement toward perfection is away from all domination of the lower nature and is toward a pure, powerful reflection of the being, power, knowledge and delight of the Spirit and Self in the mind. Intellilgence, shadowed by desire, distorts Truth.Thought and will must detach from desire and its acompanying troubling emotions. Equanimity and a detached mind pave the way toward reflecting peace, and basing action from a liberated spirit.

“Spirit is infinite and in the spirit all is true, but nothing in the mind can give the whole truth of the spirit.”
