Spirituality and Body Changes

Bagha, one of the creators of the Laboratory of Evolution, a Resource and Research Centre entirely focused on researching and documenting all in the world that has to do with Evolution and Human Unity, talks about the possibilities of the new human consciousness. For her the real way to reach a sustainable life begins with a real changing in each human being. Bagha belives that Auroville is a special place to develop the inner being, but she really belives that one can try to reach its own develop everywhere in the world. For more information check

Tibetan Pavilion

In January 2009 H.H. The Dalai Lama will visit Auroville and will inaugurate the Tibetan Pavilion.
Claude Arpi, who is one of the promoters of the Pavilion, tell us about what is still needed to finish the Pavilion in time. In this interview in English and French Claude ask for financial help from donors to fund raise the sum needed. He also speaks about the logistic of this very important visit.

Punto de Convergencia

En la comunidad de Evergreen, han “convergido” diferentes personas con una misma inquietud,’ conocerse mas profundamente y encontrar juntos nuevas ideas e innovaciones que puedan mejorar el mundo social y ecologicamente.
Punto de convergencia es el nombre de este nuevo proyecto, su proposito, explorar y responder a profundas cuestiones sobre la situacion actual y nuestro medio ambiente, alcanzando un cambio fundamental en la conciencia, las actitudes y los comportamientos.

The point of convergence. A way of learning. At Convergence we explore, through deep questioning, both the bigger picture and the fundamental root causes of our current global environmental reality. The aim is to reach a level of fundamental change in attitudes, behaviors and awareness.

The Key to Progress

Ameeta Mehra came last week to Auroville for the last meeting of the Governing Board. She took the time in her busy schedule to give at Savitri Bavhan a conference on the theme ”What Savitri is for me.” In front of a large public, she spoke of her own deep experience with Sri Aurobindo and how, in a’ tragic moment in her life, she found in Sri Aurobindo the key to progress.

Dr. Kamala

Dr. Kamala, an Aurovilian in her early eighties, works as a homeopathic Doctor in the Health Center. She believes in following her own values and norms which is clearly evident by her decision to choose her husband, although this goes against Indian culture. You can meet them every evening her and her husband while they walk side by side in the Auromodel area.’

L`heure de l`Afrique

Auroville a connu une semaine d’une intense acticite a tous les niveaux. Le 28 fevrier a ete organise un symposium aur l’unite humaine a Sawchu. Les intervenants furent mulriples et varies. En marge de ce symposyum a l’heure du the de l’apres midi nous avons rencontre Doudou Diene et Amadou Mahtar M’Bow. L’heure de l’Afrique est-elle sonnee a Auroville?

This week’s Tamil program features an interview with Tamil’ Aurovilian Rajan, who was brought to Auroville by his German stepmother. Rajan stopped his schooling to go to work in order to help his grandmother, his only family member. He speaks simply,’ with an innocence,’ yet a depth of the’ meaning of life in relation to his world can be heard. Rajan works in the Graphic Section at Town Hall.

The Silent Self

In January 1908 Sri Aurobindo had his first major spiritual experience, which he sometimes referred to as his Nirvana’ experience. To mark the Centenary of this event, Shraddhavan gave a talk at Savitri Bhavan, sharing some of Sri Aurobindo’s statements about his experience, and connecting them with some remarks of the Mother about Thought Control and some passages in Savitri. Since Sri Aurobindo stated “One cannot be a fully developed mental being if one has not a control of the thoughts … these words have a practical application for all of us.

In this week’s Tamil program Thiru, a local Aurovilian, who studied in the Auroville Schools but did his higher studies outside of Auroville, has now returned. He works at Red Earth Riding School and teaches carpentry at Transition School. Thiru talks about his’ experiences and his view of what Auroville is. He also shares about how the local villagers perceive Auroville.

South India Community Media Network

A group of media practitioners, advocates and journalists met in Auroville to form the South India Community Media Network. This will ensure that the voice of every person can be heard and be accessible through community radio. To make it possible, the group urges the government of India to make the license application process a simple one. Also to be emphasized is the use of low-cost technology and, importantly, the freedom to broadcast news.
Here an interview with the Ashis Sen (VOICES), member of AMARC and also part of the Community Radio Foum (India). Other partecipats on the workshop are giving their opinion too.
